Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - not an iPhone killer, a nice option

Same for me. I wanted the Note but I am on Verizon.

The GN2 should come out on ATT, Sprint and Verizon.

Thats what sucks im not available for an upgrade for over a year. Im not paying $800 for the note. Its lame it would be cheaper to pay and get out of my contract and start another 2 year one and get the note for $200-250.

Yah I have been looking at this as well...I like what I see so far. Not sure if it will come to Verizon or not?

Did anyone get this phone? If so, how is it? I do not like my phone I have not (Evo 4G) and want to upgrade.

A couple of people here at work are getting it within the next week or so, so I'll ask them how they like it.

I have the first note, and I really like this phone. Sure, it's large, but after a few days you get used to the size, and it's really not that big of a deal anymore. I bought it mainly because my vision is not as good as it used to be, and it's much easier to read vs. my old iphone 3gs. Plus, the note feature and stylus have come in handy a few times when I needed to jot something down and didn't have paper and pen available.

Size wise they are very impressive but the battery life would worry me. It has to suck a lot of juice powering that huge screen.

This is no longer an issue. I had the original Note and upgraded to the Note 2 a month ago. This battery lasts 3x as long as the one in the original Note. Just a truly incredible phone..

my coworker gets 2 days out of a single charge on his note 2 on att

I am techie first, before any bias to any Iphone or Android phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the phone you have been waiting for 5 years.

The size = You will manage.

Split screen is cool. ie. Browser and email split screen.

Split screen text messaging on landscape mode.

The S-Note is cool. Pen and finger writing is cool, if you want it. I use mostly voice command stuff.

Samsung is cheaply made IMO. Cheap light plastic that just feels cheap. HTC droid DNA is a monster

It doesn't bother me at all. A stellar product and its less than HTC and Apple?

Sign me up.

BTW: I am a clutz w/ my S3 for some reason. I have dropped it time and time again and not a single scratch or mark on it.

Odd I know....you would not think that being its such a cheap @@# phone, right?

The only thing that feels cheap is the light weight plastic rear cover. Most people put cases on anyways. That takes care of that.

My friend dropped his S3 twice. Two differen phones. Cracked alot of the glass each time. ...... good shot?!:D

Anyone have a Note 2?

I have and want to interact about quirks, tips etc?

Quirks:

1. Not crazy about the Samsung keyboard - no word correction
had to install Jellybean keyboard

2. Not crazy about screen remaining where you last were ie. text messaging. Wish it would go back to text message ALL instead of last one.
You can receive a text message and respond to wrong person if not careful... whoops! lo

Tips:

Love the split screen
1. Activate it through your lampshade
2. then hold down back arrow
3. open one item ie browser then drag next option ie. text message into screen view

Set up gmail option to reset phone screen unlock - so you can reset it via gmail OTHERWISE it will require a factory reset. Yep happened to me.
Somehow I entered a pin # to set up screen lock and entered a different one 2x. Phone locked. Tried 100 variations and couldnt get in

Monster? Monster to hold maybe. A cheap small non-removable battery and very limited memory make this a wannabe phone compared to the better phones available. A phone is useless if it dies halfway through the day. HTC has been making horrible design decisions lately. It does have a nice screen. Their market share has shrunk down to next to nothing for a reason. The last great phone they built was the HD2.

I just bought the DNA and I use it a lot and lasts me the whole day. Love everything about it. I last had the iPhone 4, and I can tell you from experience the Droid DNA is so much better. I can also say from my opinion that it is better than the S3.
