Good God.

Number 3 defense by yards coming into this game. (We'd almost certainly be higher if not for Watkins's growing pains.)

Number 10 defense by points allowed (and a lot of those were on the Bledsoe-led offense) coming into the game.

Third in takeaways behind Chicago and Baltimore (we passed Arizona in this game).

We've allowed 30 points twice, in games that featured 5 and 4 Dallas turnovers and a pick-six in each.

We've allowed 20 points twice, once in the first game of the season, and the other in the crazy Washington game where 5 of the points had nothing to do with the defense.

In the other six games, we've allowed 10, 14, 6, 14, 10 and 14.

I know the OP was a joke, but I simply don't understand the complaints about Zimmer.

Yeah.....as if we are suddenly supposed to forgive Zimmer for all the games where he sucked and couldn't pressure anyone, like the Houston game.......

Yes, we did.

I don't know what you were watching.

ratliff getting to the qb. ferguson getting to the qb. ware getting to the qb.
spears and hatcher.

i didnt hear akin bradie singleton in there. i did see them blitz and not get there.

so the blitz results were the same. 1 or 2 sacks. a crowded pocket. just like in carolina or houston.

I didnt see breakout blitzes where roy or a LB got through.

I did see our line interior create a tight pocket with a crowded view. most pressure came from the middle (watch ferguson again...holy cow amazing game today) and the edges with ware and hatcher.

I'm sorry you didn't see it.

James, Spears, and Ware all even hinted at it during the post game.

The linemen got the numbers, but some of that was from the scheming too.

hinted at being aggressive. as in not being so hesitant.

BE A PLAYER. execute. make plays. something parcells has asked from his players the past 5 weeks.

he finally got it.

He also got some new wrinkles from Zimmer.

I applaud him for that.

But I need to see more of it.

I don't even see how you are arguing this. We lost Ellis, and we studied New England and San Diego all week. We definitely used some new stuff.

the difference was that Hatcher, Spears and Ratliff were winning their battles somewhat consistently

and we disguised our blitzes, thanks to Parcells realizing that that's the key to playing Manning and Co.

I'll say it again, you give Zimmer some players, and allow him to be creative, and he can put a nice product on the field

I just want us to continue using this more aggressive scheme the rest of the year.

I think we'll see more of today w/ Ellis out of the lineup

If we can play like that on defense every week, we may not lose again this season.

And I don't mean regular season.

But I doubt we keep it up.

And I'll say it again, Zimmers unsavory past speaks for itself, he is subpar. If any one Coach had somthing to do with Dallas playing lights out it was Bill Parcels.

No it wasn't.

We blitzed a LOT more.

Norm and Greggo pointed it out as well.

Im sorry but this shows just how clueless you are. You blitz someone evry down in the 3-4 or you send 3.

Id be interested to see Yakuza's chart because we sent more than 4 only a handful of times. The pressure was being genereated by Ratliff Ware Hatcher. We run blitzed a couple of times and we sent 6 one time and Ferguson got through but we sent 4 almost all the time.

Especially considering how they were running to the outside, we would have given up huge gains had we blitzed 'alot'

and so has been the talent of our D

the game is 90% execution, 10% coaching, our pass rush today came w/ most of our front 7 people winning their individual match-ups

I dare any of you GROZ peons to explain exactly what this unsavory past is. I dont want to hear the same generalized garbage about read and react and generalizations aobut how he coaches pplayers.

I want real specific examples. The closest I have ever seen is Wolverine saying something about Demetric Evans on a zone blitz but that led to a good discussion.

3rd in yardage
3rd in turnovers created
10th in points allowed

That is Zimmers recent past. That is elite.

Thanks for the lesson, but I already knew that.

That being said, we were much different this week than we normally are.

If someone has a chart that says otherwise, then they are wrong too.

Well...we finally got some pass rush of the edge. We only ran the keystone cops blitz maybe twice.

The defense did look different today. It seemed that there were a few wrinkles we hadn't seen previously, but the execution was also much better. Roy Williams was out to hurt someone today.

Anyhow, regardless of how the results were achieved, I said I'd eat my words if Zimmer came up with a good game plan that pressured the QB. We did that today and so I'll I get to eat crow...

Ahh I get it you are actually trying to be a toolbag.

Bring something other than fantasy land to the discussion.

BTW is the sig some reference to liberatarian federalism or is it just more toolbag action?

I won't "hate" Zimmer if he can do this more often.

If we go back to not getting pressure and turnovers and letting up 20+ points to good teams, then I want someone who will produce more plays.

Because producing that stuff usually means wins.

The Defense just executed his plays against the Colts. It was the players who executed the plays that Zimmer called.
