I hate to break it to you, Aaron Rodgers had an excellent year, and he clearly without a doubt, should be league MVP.

Look at these stats...

2nd overall in completion percentage
2nd overall in yards per attempt.
2nd overall in quarterback rating.

Clearly, he should be #1, the facts speak for themselves!

Unless I'm missing something.

Stats don't matter, he's #1 in the eyes of the media. They have a love fest with him, so yeah, he wIll get the MVP.
And Romo means as much to the Cowboys as Rodgers does to the Packers.

2nd overall in completion rating, behind Romo.
2nd overall in yard per attempt, behind Romo.
2nd overall in quarterback rating, behind Romo

Now let's look at other important facts.

Tony Romo against winning teams/playoff teams - 4-1 record, 251.2 YPG, 71.9 completion percentage, 11 TDs/3 INT's, 100.5 passer rating

Aaron Rodgers against winning teams/playoff teams - 3-3 record, 251 YPG, 58.4 completion percentage, 10 TDs/3 INT's, 89.53 passer rating

Not sure if you were being sarcastic, if so, sorry if I'm not picking up on it.

I hope we get through Detroit ok. I think this will set up to be Tony's swan song as true MVP in GB the following week to set the record straight.

ironically, Weeden's ineptitude could help Tony win the award...the team was listless with Weeden in the game against AZ...with a healthy and rested tony, they are 12-0 this year

Watt will win it. Write that down. Since they know that they can not make a good case for Rodgers the AP will cast their Vote for Watt.

Watt should win it. Romo and Rodgers are having great years, but not unprecedented years for a QB. Watt is redefining his position and that's what it takes to win it as a non-qb/rb.

The MVP is just so heavily slanted towards QB and to a lesser extent, RB. I mean hell, Odelll Beckham Jr. might be more valuable to his team's success (what little they had) than Rodgers or Romo. They might have won one game the whole year without him.

In normal years I would agree. But because Houston has no QB and they're out of the playoffs, I don't think they are going to give it someone who's not even playing this weekend or next.

Nicely done. I would only note that he's not 2nd in completion percentage: he's 9th.

While you have a point, any advantage created by Weeden's ineptitude will be negated by Romo being a Dallas Cowboy given the major anti-Cowboy bias.

I just don't agree that your the League MVP if you do not have your team in the playoffs.

Without Romo the cowboys are sitting at home just like the Texans.

I hear you, but the award has nothing to do with the playoffs. If it does, then that should be explicitly stated and it would make things much easier.

Right now, at least to me, it's an award for the leagues best player. Watt controlled what he could control, and a bit more, but he can still be the leagues best player on a team with no QB.
