MoreYet your on another thread wanting to put 20 mill into the RB position...
This team needs to run the ball far more than most, and we don't have a lead dog.

No, not $20 million. I'd pay him $10 million though.

This the whole point though. It’s not realistic to think only 3-5 guys will get paid. That’s not sports.

We can cry all we want but at the end of the day teams pay QB’s who can make them competitive.

Also, all these teams also have great rosters and coaching staffs. I’d argue Buffalo has been regressing since their AFCCG and that San Fran can “contend” all they want but with marginal QB talent will be hard pressed to win anything.

Every team you named outside of KC will face the same issue as their guy is paid. Cincy will lose players and so will Buffalo. Philly already has. These QB’s won’t be able to “contend” without top flight rosters and coaching, they are no different than the next crop of QB’s in the 6-10 range.

Only Mahomes has shown the ability to take spare parts on offense and win a SB. Burrow was close with his OL but his weaponry and defense were top notch.

Paying ANY qb not named Mahomes makes contending difficult. That’s why winning a championship is so hard. It’s the FO job to work the salary cap and draft to stock the roster while ensuring the coaching staff is up to standard.

You’ll get 1, maybe 2 guys a generation who can do what Pat does. Everyone else needs a full team and staff. Let’s stop trying to make it easy on FO’s. Teams have to learn to win with QB salaries and they will.

A top 5 QB on a rookie deal is obviously the easiest way to win. But that’s not an opportunity most of the league gets. You’re not going to see 27 NFL teams refuse to pay QB while cycling through picks to find a HOFer. The NFL is a business, teams will pay top dollar for competitive QB play. It’s their job to build around it.

The Saints did this in the late stages of Brees career when he was not close to being top 5 but was still getting market value. Manipulate the cap and figure ish out. Draft well and employ a quality staff. Being a lazy FO and hoping to hit on an all-timer is not a real plan for action.

WOW what an original take from SAS.

Just wondering what these media mouths would talk about if the Cowboys were just another team.

Every sports talking head is smarter than the everyday person. They get paid saying the exact same thing people have already said.

I least give me Joy Taylor or Molly Qerim on repeat. I have eyes. That would make hearing the broken record enjoyable. Or maybe Kay Adams?

Kay Adams: "Dak is the problem."

It's the team around Dak when Dallas wins but it's ONLY Dak when Dallas loses.

That's the logic behind the anti-Dak agenda.
oh, I 100% agree. we beat the eagles last year, credit went to defense, luck and eagles playing bad. we beat the crap out of Indy and its he couldn't score more in the first 3 quarters and only when Indy "fell apart" we beat them.
we lose a game its all Dak and lets scrutinize every single play to death. we scored 28 against GB, but it was Dak's fault we lost the game.

hmm. Maybe I am not understanding your take exactly so afford me one question before I answer yours. Would you agree practically all viewpoints made on or outside this forum daily by ordinary people are parroted by Steven A. Smith and other sports talking heads on their shows and podcasts?

I don’t speak in participation trophy.

Sorry.
By every measurable metric Dak has been one of the most productive, efficient, and successful quarterbacks in the NFL since he was drafted. Is he elite? No. But he is a true franchise quarterback that has been a key factor in the Cowboys' success over the course of his career.

Now, if we want to bash his performances in the playoffs against the 49ers the past two seasons, that's justified. The team as a whole had issues against San Fran both times and Dak was unable to pick up the slack.

The one criticism of Dak that actually sticks is the fact that he basically goes as the team goes. When everything goes right he looks like one of the best in the game. When things break down he kind of goes down with it. I understand that.

However, since I can sit here at home and see this, it's the fault of the coaching staff for not seeing the same thing. They know what they have in him. He's good enough to win a Super Bowl. Lesser quarterbacks have done it. Now let's put him in better position to succeed instead of putting Dak in the same spot over and over again expecting different results.

no, I don't agree. these talkign heads respond to what they think will get them clicks. if you are not controversial in someway, then nobody cares. they pick a polarizing topic. and they take a side, then they change sides.

there are more people who think Dak is a good QB, than those who think he sucks. but anything Dallas, gets attention.

Collinsworth said it out loud. if NBC could, they would have Dallas on TV for 17 games.
