I'm not sold on him as a backup either but I have to mention a funny tidbit, IMHO, on him...He was the only player on the field during morning practices in sweatpants...The oldest guy and the only one in the early fog filled practice wearing sweatpants while every other player were in some combination of shorts...He stood out like an, old man :laugh2:

Yeah, I remember some people mentioned Oglesby was doing well so hopefully I just caught him on one bad day. I actually didn't even know his number but I kept seeing #23 getting beat and so I looked up the program and it said Oglesby.montgod;2172610 said:What's interesting is that Oglesby is getting high praise from Wade and has led all CB in interceptions during camp. Maybe just a bad day???

Yes I saw him made some good catches too. I am not down on him at all. I simply think he's not consistent and polished enough compared to Austin and Hurd. He just needs time. I don't expect him to contribute as WR much this year.cowboyed;2172618 said:Good account but I think you are a little off on Stanback based on all reports. Ray Sherman, the receivers coach has stated that Stanbach is making significant progress better than he expected. Sure Isaiah will struggle some and has to become more efficient in his cuts but he has extraordinary speed and athletic ability for his size. Stanbach has made some pretty impressive catches this training camp.
I agree that's Jerry is a great owner. I think he's the best in sports. I wish I could grow up and be like him. So I didn't mean to sound like he's driven by marketing. I thought it was great that he even cared enough to walk across the field and personally gave the ball to that fan.I also think you are a bit off base on Jerry Jones by interpreting his interaction with the fans as purely driven by marketing. Not everything he does is based on a marketing motive. Jerry has a reputation for genuinely caring for fans. Sure he is cognizant of the Cowboys image and wants to maintain good will so how about chalking it up to Jerry wanting to take good care of the folks that greatly support the players and the organization.

I have the same exact impressions as you about these 3 WRs. I also noticed Stanback's slow footwork in this one drill where the receivers ran backward then spin 270 then run forward. I don't expect Stanback to be contributed much as a WR this year.FCBarca;2172978 said:Hadn't spent anytime writing a post on our visit but gotta echo what you have mentioned as well.
Hurd & Austin:
Really impressive footwork and quickness/burst in and out of routes...They started the practice with these WR drills and pretty much everyone was impressive but Hurd & Austin stood out, IMHO...And Hurd, dude is pretty ripped...Must be working out with T.O...I left feeling better about both of them.
Stanback:
He was noticably behind the curve on that WR drill which kinda disappointed me...You could see perhaps it's a combination of things (Converted WR, Thinking too much, Mechanical etc.) but that quick footwork simply wasn't there...To give a rough analogy, he looked a bit like a Clydesdale compare to the other WRs and was not particularly smooth getting in and out of routes...I will say he is a big guy and for someone of his size he has terrific speed and seems very dedicated (Even after the morning practice ended, he was still out there practicing routes and catching passes)...Perhaps an overreaction but I am not counting on him being a WR factor this season...Maybe he'll be used as a returner, running a reverse etc. but not sure how much he will be playing with the first team in the near future...On a positive note, I didn't see him really drop any balls that were even close to him
yeah, that was in the morning practice when TO ran a deep corner route. The ball was coming down over his left shoulder and his him right in the basket but it bounced off.(Not a lot of dropped balls overall, although there was one memorable one when T.O. missed a great pass from Romo on deep pass that led to a lot of awwws from the crowd).
Yeah, I wanted Mendehall but I can see now how Jones is a better complement to Barber. There have been talks that Felix could be like Westbrook. Wouldn't that be great?Felix Jones:
I wasn't high on the kid when he was drafted but have slowly been converted...I like everything I hear about the player definitely enjoy the player I saw in drills...I think it's hard to see what kind of RB a RB will be in these practices without full contact but he does have some wiggle and burst that will undoubtedly be a great changeup to Barber.
yeah, I hope they don't move him around anymore and give him a chance to get better.Bobby Carpenter:
Perhaps we're finally going to see some good things out of him this season...He looked solid all practice, IMHO.
Brad Johnson:

that was one thing I didn't like about BP's camp. I wasn't thinking about going this year if practices were held on the far field till I read that Wade had practices on the near field.diehard2231;2172619 said:thanks for the post, I went to camp there BP's last year and some days they held practice on the far side of the field by the golf course. You couldn't see a thing!
:laugh2: me too dude. My back hurt last night from the whole day standing. You can't see as much from the bleachers they set up behind the fence. and I could smell that BBQ during the whole practice so I had to go get some ribs for dinner.had a blast but never stood so much in my life at one time period LOL
carl's barbecue is a must to go eat, some of the best barbecue food
have fun and keep reporting

arglebargle;2173184 said:Funny thing about Stanback and footwork at WR: I was going over some old pre-draft reports on him, and one thing caught my eye. Evaluated as a QB, they said his footwork was terrible, and he'd need to work on it if he was ever to be successful.
So, he may just have issues with foot co-ordination period. quote]
Cant he go on Dancing with the Stars or something? :laugh2:
