I had no problem with our FA strategy of not spending pre-Dak. But it is different now. We have a 3-4 year window with Dak and Zeke on the cheap. We should be spending big during this window and front loading contrasts. This is a mistake. The Giants understand their window. We don't.

Doesn't matter, Stephen & McClay are running team development and Jerry just stated that he's fine with the new Cowboy FA strategy.
The GM rules so get onboard or find a new team to root for.

U might be right. But I also think Dak will sign a fairly team friendly deal. He's not the kind of guy that will demand to be top 3 paid QB.

Spending big rarely ever works. In fact, it fails spectacularly most of the time as you pay premium prices for less than premium players. They have switched to a strategy of filling holes with moderately priced free agents and using the draft as the main source of improving the team. I'm more than fine with this, especially since the cap is tight. Once Romo's contract is off the cap, things will loosen up and they will sign some bigger free agents. This year I think they are looking at playing free agency with next years comp picks in mind. They will be interested in moderately priced free agents who don't qualify in the comp pick formula or who wont cancel out a premium pick. Hopefully they can continue to have strong drafts. If so the team will be fine and in good shape in the coming years as the cap issues clear up.

Stephen just doesn't believe in paying elite money for above average players.

For the most part, I agree with that. Unless it's a guy that can specifically fill a significant need.

We've gone from one extreme to the other.

It's disappointing that we basically sit out the first week of FA waiting to see what falls through the cracks.

I think Dallas will continue to look for mid range FA who can help and lean on the draft.

Fist off, Dak will be our QB for the next 10 years at least. Now Zeke, yah, maybe 5 years. But then again, that was part of the issue with drafting a RB with the 4th pick.

And we have seen Jerry overspend for mediocre FA's. Everything is about long term. The short term goals killing long term goals attitude has to stop.

We're not...McCown is making a visit today. Things are progressing nicely this year.

We are losing TWill, Leary, McClain, Church and Mo.
We NEED to be somewhat active in FA, with low picks in the draft.

How can we criticize a strategy that they aren't even allowed to impliment yet?
