That means you're compensating for something. In a well-grounded relationship, the ring is a virtual afterthought.
I think Romo would disagree. Perhaps overly expensive rings are an expression of love and caring. Maybe the love and caring is totally misconstrued by the person buying the ring and/or the person receiving the ring but the emotion is there anyway. I believe your analogy applies to some but not all.

Was it $600k? I don't remember.

Will he get it back?

I think he already did. He seems smart enough to do that before he dropped the news.

I'm not sure what the law says about it. It should be his, I would think.

I realize it's relative to the available money at hand.

Personally, I wouldn't risk my wife's life by having her walk around with a half million dollars around her finger. That makes her a target.

And Romo had to "apologize" a bit for Jessica Simpson:)

What's the law on engagement rings?

from my understanding, in TX (if that's where they reside), engagement rings are a conditional gift and completed once married. If Oscan broke it off, and for iffy reasons, his ex fiance may get to keep it. If she broke it off, it must be returned as the conditions for the gift weren't met. Similar thing happened to R Williams (WR) not too long ago where his fiance broke it off, she tried to keep the ring but the court ordered it returned. Soooo, it depends on WHO broke it off and if Oscan did, that he had very good reason (i.e. affair, etc.).

In NY, where I'm from, it's a conditional gift until marriage regardless of who or why in the event a marriage doesn't happen.

And in California, he probably still has to pay alimony and child support for the next guy she marries.

What a messed up state.

I think the relevance applies more to the devotion, ill-conceived or not, behind the jewelry purchase than any particular purchase price.

Agreed. However, if one can afford the jewerly, they may also can afford appropriate security measures to protect the person wearing expensive jewerly. Just a consideration.

Judge Judy says, "An engagement ring is given in contemplation of a marriage." If there's no marriage, regardless of who calls it off, the ring must be returned. Good to hear O called it off. You NEVER try to turn a Ho into a housewife. Bullet dodged.

Damn... Lmao

When you buy a $600K ring, you're not really that confident in the relationship. When you see women with these massive diamonds, that often means that either hubby doesn't trust her, or he majorly screwed up and had to pay her to stay.

Real relationships find more meaningful things to do with that much money.

Umm you realize in the other thread we established romo spent more than that on his wife's ring? Sooo did Romo cheat or does he not trust Candace?

600k to Sandrick is probly like 60 bucks to Tony. Dumb to spend that large a portion of your salary on a ring
