In the honor of Paranormal Activity 2's release tomorrow, my question to you is what is the scariest movie you've ever seen?

My answer is Paranormal Activity 1. Man I couldn't sleep for a week.

I don't think I've ever seen a truly scary movie. Even some of the great ones haven't scared me.

There was a movie called The Descent which came out a few years back. That movie had some suspenseful parts in it.

The scene, from Salems Lot, in which the vampire kids are floating outside the kids bedroom door freaked me out when I was young.

I have this problem. I remember getting scared as a child, but movies just aren't scary and haven't been for some time. Now, a movie can make me jump, but that's just a reflex when something loud and flashy surprises you.

I remember being freaked out as a kid watching the swinging rocking chair with noone in it during the movie Haunted.

I don't really like horror movies. I tend to avoid them if at all possible.

That said, when I did watch them, the only that stuck was Birds by Alfred Hitchcock.

I still hate being under a flock of birds. I drove into a parking lot that had a bunch of them sitting on a power line and I kept driving. Didn't even bother trying to get out of the car.

There was also an old movie about rats that still bothers me. It was like these big humongous rats attacking ppl. *shivers*

When I was young and saw the Exorcist for the first time, it scared the heck out of me. Great movie.

Yeah, because it involves real people doing horrible things. Movies with monsters, supernatural gunk (for the most part) is not readily identifiable. Being in a house with some sadistic humans outside the doors is very identifiable. I haven't been truly scared by a movie in so long, I actually miss it, but it's movies like this that do tend to get a bit under my skin.

Even though he was after sorority chicks, Black Christmas, (not the awful remake, the 70's version) did a good job of making my skin crawl. Check it out if you haven't.

Phantasm, as a kid, scared the crap out of me and I still get creeped out when I think about it. I've seen bits and pieces since then, but won't watch the whole thing because I don't want to ruin the memories I have of it. Besides that, it doesn't look as if it's aged very well.

As a rule, I don't get scared by movies anymore. I'm a horror hound, though, so I'm probably just desensitized. BUT: the scene in The Thing where they're testing the blood, even though I've seen it 100 times, still makes me sweat.

Also, I didn't want to make a new thread for this, but every Halloween, every website around makes a list of the top 10/25/50/whatever horror movies. Most of these lists are pretty predictable and through the years they've gotten pretty stale. Here's a list that has some truly "wth?" picks, and their top 10 are mostly headscratchers (though I agree with number 1!). See if you agree: http://www.boston.com/ae/movies/gallery/top_50_scary_movies

i dont get scared(or at least havent found one that scared me) but i would have to give it to the descent and one part i remember thinking if i had seen it in theaters i might have jumped.

that said, the last movie i got scared in was Jurassic park: lost world-the part where they are digging to get out and the raptor pops in as they are about to get out. i was about 10

I'm completely desensitized to horror movies. I'd have to witness a real-life murder to be scared.
