FWIW...

Adam Schefter:
I spoke to a couple of different people this week, who, when they'd heard all this Dak Prescott conversation, went and looked at the film of the guy. They were blown away at the decisions he was making, the skills he demonstrated, looking downfield, playing like a veteran. You could say, "It's preseason." That's what I said. I talked to a couple of people and asked, "What do you think? Is this overblown? Are we getting too excited over a guy after two preseason games?" And they went and looked at the film and said, "This guy has got it. He's got it. They've found their quarterback of the future." If they did hit on that pick the way that other highly intelligent people think they hit on the pick, they're set for the next 12-15 years.

Nice find thanks Percy.

Obviously still premature. But I will say that they bring a point I have also been making on Dak in that he is constantly looking downfield and has seemed to developed a feel for pressure. He's had several throws I would have expected him to tuck and run but he has hung in and delivered a 15+ play.

I hope so, I truly do. If the Cowboys hit on Dak with the 135th overall pick, that's the only thing people will remember about this draft. Imagine, now, if Zeke is an all pro back and Jaylon Smith gets healthy.

And the best player in the draft was Dak Prescott. Haha.

This will be the greatest draft of Jerry's tenure as owner.

Dude just looks better equipped than Goff and Wentz and any other QB before or after him mentally and physically. Dallas could be on the cusp of the best QB taken since I dunno when. Could we be that lucky? He literally fell into our laps after trying to reach for Lynch and Connor.

Maybe there is a football god after all.

I would think Precott would have to win a few Super Bowls for this to be the best draft under Jones. The 1989 haul of Troy Aikman, Daryl Johnston, Mark Stepnoski, and Tony Tolbert comes to my mind as the best; followed closely by 1991.

We're merely speculating, but what fun it is. Can't wait for the next preseason game. Garrett and Linehan are probably thinking the same thing most of us are.

And luckiest. I wonder what team ends up with Dak if Booger is successful in trading for either Lynch or Cook. Now, either of those guys could turn out to be good QB's, they're just not showing it so early in their careers.

As fans, speculating is a lot of fun. Especially this time of the year. I haven't been this excited about a quarterback prospect for the Cowboys since we were waiting for Romo to replace Drew Bledsoe.

Plus Collins, Tapper, Brown, Frazier and Jackson seem to all make the team and contribute.....if Tapper gets healthy

If true, the Jerry haters won't know what to do. How can we not give him credit other than, he really wanted Manziel?

Man I have not been this excited as a Cowboys fan for a long time. I love Romo and still want him to start and lead this team but man there is a special type of feeling that comes with having hope for the future. I will admit that when we drafted Dak I was not that happy. I saw him as a run first quarterback but man I was 100% wrong. I am a huge fan and cant wait to see how things turn out for this kid.

Stop getting me excited, I'm trying to stay calm.

But most consider those Jimmy's drafts just like they consider that 3rd ring to be his instead of Switzer's. The local media does their best not to give any love to Booger or Switzer and treat Jimmy as the football god, followed closely by Parcells. The fact if Booger had not intervened to pick Ware, we don't even know if we get one the the top 5 Dallas D players of all time. But facts sometimes escape the local media.

I watch a ton of SEC ball and I liked the pick for his athleticism if we needed him to play this season but how he's played in these two pretend games was even better than in 2014 when he was a true Heisman candidate.

I agree. Parcells was a horrible drafter and the scouts did good to overrule him. In 2003 he wanted DT Dewayne Robertson over Terence Newman. Lucky for us Robertson was picked by the Jets ahead of Dallas. In 2005 he wanted to take Marcus Spears at 11 instead of Ware. And he made Bobby Carpenter the team's top pick in 2006.

Do you understand how idiotic this comment is?

Give the same man who craved Quincy Carter and Johnny Manziel, yet we should "give him credit" for missing on a trade for Lynch and succeeding in securing Dak Prescott's rights?

Joe Fan off the street could have identified Lynch as a good prospect. He felt so strongly with his expert eye about him that he got cold feet and did not sweeten the trade to Seattle to get him.

And if you think stumbling upon Prescott when the strategy has long gone out of the draft process, I don't know what to tell you.

If Prescott is the next big thing, it was not skill, namely Jones having an "eye". It was like it was with Romo, a case of being extremely fortunate because someone else did the homework.
