If we DON'T trade him it just goes to show why it has been so hard for the organization as a whole to win in recent years. The club's priorities are out of whack.

I agree with this 100%. If you know you can get something for him why even release him, he's worth too much, and he has never did anything significant for the team anyways but ruin key moments, and stay on the injury list when we really depended on him. This would make me sick to my stomach they give him up for nothing.

thought all along that Romo was going to be released because Dallas needs the cap room and by releasing him, they can spread his cap hit out over two years....

That's still stupid and you could possibly trade him in a 3 team deal and possibly end up with the 2nd pick and other draft choices and possibly end up with Myles Garrett and Adoree Jackson in the first round. I pray to god that they don't do this.

I'm not sure Jerry feels that way, despite the public comments. His "do right" philosophy by Romo wants to get him to his new team fast and creste cap room.

I don't know where this "fast" thing is coming from, seems to be some artificially created mandate to satisfy impatient fans.

Signing Hardy was the problem, that's the year Dallas should have dumped a lot of Romo's money in but instead Jerry thought the team was close to a Superbowl contender.....don't know what glass he was looking through then but I'm guesing rose colored, the defense was a mirage, as it was last year that the offense helped cover up for....

The league is depending on the stupidity of our front office.

Looks like they might be right.....and the league really does hate Jerry.

nobody is giving you even a top ten pick for an aging often injured quarterback(he's 37)...and Jerry will want to let Romo go to a team to have a chance to compete for a Superbowl, Cleveland, Jets etc aren't those teams and they wouldn't want Romo anyway.

Sadly this is right. But not sure why we can't do what Philly did and take 3 QBs to camp and see what happens. They had Bradford, Wentz, and Chase Daniel. And look what happened. I know we need the cap room, but we can renegotiate existing deals.

The rumors of Romo impending release have been ridiculous. Why are people not listening when Jerry has been trying to put the breaks on these ridiculous notions. He's made it clear they are in no hurry to make any decision on Romo's future with the franchise. "Do right" by Romo does not mean the team gets screwed. If they employ patience, there will come a time Romo's services will be in high demand, either by the Cowboys or another team in contention.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ny-romo-be-involved-in-potential-cousins-deal

"The three organizations could soon discuss a trade that would send Kirk Cousins to San Francisco, Tony Romo to Washington and draft-pick compensation (including the No. 2 overall pick in April's draft) to Dallas, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday, via sources informed of the potential talks."

Guess we'll see in the next days to weeks.
Been saying all along that this scenario wouldn't totally surprise me.
But ideally they find middle ground where we get something and he plays somewhere decent.

fwiw, Every other team message board I've read has the vast majority of fans assuming he won't make through half a season or less. They, on average, will be pretty furious if they acquire Tony. Anyone interested, just go out there and see what's being said on Broncos or Texans (or even far-fetched Washington) message boards.
I actually think he could have a couple of very good years left in him.
