Romo is a starting QB, one the top 10 in the league and a legit all Pro with a good team.

No possible way we get nothing from him

Who is 37, who has missed 28 out of the last 32 games, and who seemingly is no longer able to remain uninjured.

IF he plays (and I do except him to, then of course it's a factor.
We were discussing the money while playing vs not getting money if he doesn't. That does not include the scenario at all of playing for free.
I fully expect him to play, btw.

So as I said, it's closer to the $60 million than the $0.

What's it going to be then, eh?

This is the part that some people continue to fail to understand.

There is no rush.
Aside from a few people, most agree. They will take their time to find the best situation for Romo.

But if anyone thinks patience means holding onto him through camp waiting for another Sam Bradford miracle, it is not happening.

That pushing it I think.

I don't care anymore. This Romo thing is bordering "5th District Court" in 2010.
 Seriously, this has dragged on to the point of almost being excruciating. And it's mainly because it goes all the way back to pre-season of last year, and all through the season. If they would have just said much earlier on that this is officially Dak's team now and they will look to move Romo in the offseason, this whole situation likely wouldn't have reached the point of ad nauseum already.

This seriously can't be over, one way or another, soon enough.

Why would a team trade when everyone knows he will have to be released at some point? This decision was made the minute that Tony was made the back up. For everything that Dak did and all the great things that were accomplished last year, but by not giving Tony his job back, killed any value that he had. Just think, if Tony played out the rest of the year, looked like the Tony of old, like he did in his one series, and didn't get injured again.. his trade value would be off the charts. But the FO decided to stay with the "hot" hand, and by doing so, killed any trade value that Tony would have. At that moment, every team knew that Tony would not be on the Cowboys. You don't pay for something when you know you can get it for free. This really doesn't have anything to do with Jerry and how he feels about Tony or releasing him to do what's right by Tony. Teams aren't stupid and are not going to offer any picks when he will be released anyway.

I've already colored Romo GONE! it wasn't till I read the "red/romo not talking " thread, but he's gone with the wind, and I'm good with that, considering he was pretty much a walk-on player to begin with,,, it's gonna be fun to see him hike that left leg to signal the snap from shotgun formation in the highlight clips for whoever he's chucking T.D.'s for.

Because if you trade for him, you're guaranteed to get him. If he's released, you're guaranteed nothing. You could end up stuck with Brock Osweiler and another wasted season.

We the board public keep opening threads on Tony so Jerry probably hears about and says to himself,
okay let's keep this interest going. Someone might buy season tickets or a new jersey. When the interest
fades, then and only then, Jerry will lose interest and release Tony to the masses.

Guess we'll see in the next days to weeks.
Been saying all along that this scenario wouldn't totally surprise me.
But ideally they find middle ground where we get something and he plays somewhere decent.

fwiw, Every other team message board I've read has the vast majority of fans assuming he won't make through half a season or less. They, on average, will be pretty furious if they acquire Tony. Anyone interested, just go out there and see what's being said on Broncos or Texans (or even far-fetched Washington) message boards.
I actually think he could have a couple of very good years left in him.

Best situation I think would be a midround pick and maybe a player and get him to Houston where he restructures his contract for them. That would be a win for everyone I think. I don't think it'll happen but I think it'd be a win for everyone

I will be patient until it is time to NOT be patient....

..if they just release him with no compensation, THAT will be the non-patient "me" spouting off

It's the one that makes by far the most sense to me for all parties.

I'd even give something to the Texans if we could somehow get Clowney.

They could end up with their quarterback and draft equity to help to improve their team even more.

wow in the middle of last season most on here couldn't wait to rid the dallas cowboys of tony now every one wants draft picks galore or hold on to him all that is past and teams know he will be released so they will not trade for him the team and hc has already made up his mind that this is Daks team it time to just move on

!. If we simply release him I see it as disrespectful to the coaches and the players. They simply have to try to get everything they can for an asset. It would be a bad example to set. Jerry's only obligation in this matter is to the team.

2. If their relationship is as strong as they claim, then they should be able to separate business from friendship.

3. If he is getting released then why the wait? A release only benefits Tony. And that benefit starts to fade the longer it takes. Tony will want to be at OTA's and settled into his new surroundings, and have his family situation dealt with ASAP. We're supposed to be doing him a favor, right?
