I don't agree with it but NFL has a conduct policy and it says "even if your conduct does not result in a criminal conviction, if the league finds that you have engaged in any of the following conduct, you will be subject to discipline" People continue to say the NFL can't but they can and NFLPA agreed to it. This is not a matter of if I agree with it or not fact is it is in the league policy. Right now Zeke has not been punished correct? The league is investigating the incident and can do so under said policy.
I don't mind the policy other than the fact that there is no time limit. It should not be an indefinite investigation. It should have a max of one year, pending new information, and that new information has to be made public. Once the year expires, case closed.

and has he been suspended in any way shape or form? You have a legit gripe had the NFL suspended him but they have not. The league is investigating all of the circumstances. What I have said is according to the policy you do not need to be convicted to be punished. It is not my rule, I did not write it or make it up. It is what NFLPA and the NFL agreed to.
I fully agree that's the rule, and they can suspend him IF they come up with some evidence that he did anything wrong. My point is that they have not uncovered any such evidence, at least that's been made public. This has been going on for a year or better. If they haven't found anything in a year, they're chasing ghosts.

They have not uncovered anything that we know of. You just said it "that has been made public", is there something else we do not know? I can't say. My gut reaction right now is Zeke will not be suspended and that is based on what has been reported

I don' disagree with you. It will be almost a year ago this month that this woman filed charges in Florida. Zeke from what we have heard has cooperated with the league and this matter hopefully we be put to rest here soon.

Schefter always lost me when he first started with ESPN and reported there was a 'schism' in the Vikings locker room as he reported that Vikings players actually wanted Tavaris freaking Jackson to start over Brett Favre. It was so ridiculous that it got laughed out of Minnesota by the local press. Of course, that's what the other 31 teams always have going for them...if ESPN makes some sensationalized, load of crap story their local press will defend the team over the lies. In Dallas, the local press will say 'yeah, I heard that, too!' and stick up for ESPN.

And I'm still awaiting the apology that all of these people in the media claimed they would give when the Dez tape never surfaced. Regardless of what you think of Dez and how much he is getting paid...that report of the tape cost him millions of dollars in his contract and possible endorsements.

Like the NFL, Schefter has nothing here and doesn't know what he's talking about. Asking him if he would draft a player like EE would be like asking me if I would draft a player like EE...it has no consequence nor are you asking an expert.

I think Jerry needs to step up and get the NFL to wrap this nonsense in the bud. He got the league to get a team in LA which they have been dying to do for the past 20 years and also helped facilitate the deal to move the Raiders to Vegas which is a far better option than Oakland.

I believe in the league doing their due diligence in cases like these, but this comes off like they are trying to make the evidence fit an agenda. And EE is paying the price because Goodell botched the Ray Rice situation so badly.

I think the incident happened after Dallas had drafted him... making him part of the league.

It doesn't matter anyway... they're not going to find anything. They just want the public to notice their due diligence.
If I understand correctly there's two incidents. One in Ohio which was early and one in Florida which was after the draft. But frankly if there was anything to find you'd think they would have found it way before almost a full year of time has passed. I think you're absolutely right that this is about PR, because Elliot was next man up after they botched the John Brown penalty. It really sucks.

My point is that the league seems to think they can conduct open ended fishing expeditions against their players where no real evidence of any wrongdoing exists.

Whether you agree with it or if I agree with it or anyone else it doesn't matter. The NFL policy (NFLPA agreed to) states they can do just that.

It sounds like James Comey....... he didn't want to say there was no collusion in case he had to retract or correct that in the future......what???????........ just say at this time he find no credible evidence that Elliott committed a crime...... if new info or a video comes out we will deal with then but you can't leave it open-ended forever..... that is just as bad

To be honest at this point I'm expecting them to suspend him for 2-4 games at a crucial stretch this season.

This should have been long dead, from everything I've seen reported, and yet they're still looking into things. They're determined to find anything, no matter how small and insignificant, that they can say "Look, see? He has to be suspended."

Update:

Schefter was on the Ross Tucker football podcast earlier today and he talked about his Zeke comments.

This is what he said:

He said he hasn't said anything we don't already know. League still looking, so means they still have questions, but he doesn't know anything for certain. Lots of uncertainty surrounding this.

His response was an answer to a fantasy draft question about where Adam would draft him. He just said at this moment, because of the uncertainty and the unknown, he wouldn't take him in the top three picks. At this moment, would take him somewhere between 6-10.

Also mentioned that there's been a lot going on behind the scenes with this, like the league making requests for information constantly, sometimes weekly. Said league is just being careful with this.

the league is ultra paranoid that they will get another Ray Rice situation. So they drag their heels hoping Zeke does something stupid; failing that they can point out how long they took.
