Makes a lot more sense...

... that is, that Jerry wanted to know more clearly what one of the Cowboys' fiercest media critics, who happen to be a former DC himself, thought about things.

Ummm... you're suggesting that his preference to blame the defense instead of Dak, somehow wasn't a criticism of the team?

That's interesting.
and you are suggesting that the Defense is "The Team"?

After the GB embarrassing game He criticized the Defense like the entire world did. But he also defended Dak more than a Dad would defend his daughter.

I don't know, maybe the FO saw the ESPN episode and realized Rex is blind or have difficulty separating his feelings towards Dak from reality, not good qualities for a DC.

It is worrisome the state of denial he shows on that episode, even calling the first INT the greatest defensive play he has seen.. pfftt ... it is an overthrown pass from Dak!!!

Jerry is much more interested in everyone thinking it’s a highly coveted job, then actually providing one. The fact that no one even questions why Jerry is the decision maker for hiring a coach for liar boy, is all you need to know about Jerry and how he runs this circus.

I love how Jerry’s being blamed for putting this out when it was likely josina Anderson who heard from someone that Rex and the cowboys talked and then the logical leap was made that it was an interview.

I'll grant you it's a bad example all the way around, but you chose it, not me.

But even granting you some latitude with the example, at least criticizing an entire defense is more congruent with critiquing the "team" than is critiquing one player.

So if Rex is fired from his media job tomorrow we know he told Jerry the truth.

its still an interview.
How do you figure?

Sounds to me more likely that media caught wind that there had been a conversation, and it was presumed to be an interview... when instead, it was Jerry having a conversation with an avid critic of his team, and wanting to hear what a non-candidate with some defensive regard around the league thought about, for one hypothetical but plausible example, what Durde had proposed in his interview about using Micah.

Never heard that one before.
Not a veteran of hiring committees, I take it, then.

In my field, fairly common to ask outsider non-candidates to act as consultants to the hiring committee... eg, to comment on their perceptions of the strengths and weaknesses of (a) the institution, (b) the position, and (c) candidates they may have insight into.

Outstanding.

I've never heard of a team talk to a coach but not interview him.

I've never heard of
Okay.

You're allowed not to believe Ryan. You're allowed not to believe me when I said what I just said... even allowed to believe what I just said, but consider it irrational that a hiring committee would talk to outsider consultants.

Free country.

(Of course.)

Sooooo... ???

Who ever reported he was being interviewed really put their foot in their mouth.

To be totally fair, we don't know that.

What we know is that the original report says one thing, Rex Ryan says another.

Don't know why it would be important to Ryan to lie about it, so I've been inclined, like you, to consider the reporter over-anxious to report a scoop, and presumed too much. But we'll see.
