Outgrageous contract. If there are no performance provisions he is way overpaid. $18.5 mil in guarantees? Get real.

Peterson is a much better fit for that defense than the one in Dallas anyway. I'm definitely not losing any sleep over that signing.

I think they made the right move on Hutch too. So what if he is the best guard in the league, you don't pay guards that kind of coin. Tackles, yes. Not guards.

You can go get three starting guards for the money that Hutchinson will be making.

Disagree. They didn't need to lose Hutch. By using the transition tag intead of franchising they saved ........ wait for it ...... about 600,000 under the cap. They franchise him and avoid the entire situation.

You can replace Hutch's spot with a quality player. But I believe that Hutch is the best OG of his generation. This would be like us not paying LA back when he was still good.

So what is the franchise tag cost? I still don't think a guard is worth that much even if he "the best of his generation" which I would also disagree with. Same generation as Allen. Allen was better in his prime.

I think Dallas was silly to pay guards too.

Not when every play is run behind Larry Allen or pull Larry Allen and then run behind him. :D

hopefully we can snag lavar....if not.....hmmm.....

If Dallas doesn't grag Lavar, then the Cowboys will select either Carpenter of Lawson in the draft.

That would be three new linebackers added to the roster.

Wow, I'm REALLY glad we didn't get him. That is a ridiculous amount of money, sounds like a Wash Commander contract. NO way Peterson lives up to that money with his play.
I'd prefer Lawson or Carpenter, both would be comparatively cheap and neither has an achilles injury in their history. I've still never seen anyone come back from that with the same speed, quickness, or explosiveness that they had before the injury. Haven't seen it yet, don't expect to see it from Pete.

I really like PEterson, but you are right...for that $$$ = NO WAY!

I think he is over his injury, but that's way to much dough if he's not...WOW!

I can only imagine what those knuckleheads are asking for Lavar, Law and Woodson. No thanks, I'll stick with Ireland and the draft.

Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports the Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement with free agent LB Julian Peterson to a seven-year contract worth $54 million. The deal includes $18.5 million in guarantees, including $10 million for the 2006 season.

I believe if the Cowboys was going to take a bid for Peterson it would have been tremendously higher than T.O.'s contract...

Peterson signed a 7 year deal to 55 million and 18.5 million in signing bonus...

He could be earning 10.5 million dollars a year... too much for a player that has had a torn Achillies.... Im glad the Cowboys didn't sign him... We need to either concentrate on Lavar Arrington or just simply draft Manny Lawson...

At this point I really see the Cowboys drafting a starter in round one for the other OLB position. I can't think of anyone else available in FA that I'd want starting.

Best case scenario, Dallas will sign a kicker and a veteran safety with cover skills in the next month and we'll be able to take the best players available that fall to us in the draft.

Arrington won't be cheap either. And Bill strongly dislikes the Postons.

I remember reading somewhere that Arrington said he didn't want to play for Dallas.

Let's just get a young Lawson in the draft......he is a very talented player.

Thank you Seattle! They weaken their OLine by signing a good Lber. I am betting Peterson will be an oft-injured player for the rest of his career. They would have been better off paying that kind of money for Abraham. Of course, they still might. :clubbed:

the guy just isnt that good a player...the people that think he is are a handful of people in this forum

I just heard about the signing and while i was a little dissapointed, i'm glad that we werent crazy enough to offer that sort of $$$. He's a great player but its too much for someone coming off a recovering from a serious injury. I'd be happy with just drafting either Lawson or preferably Carpenter to play opposite Ware
