Mark Schlereth from ESPN NFL Live, said it makes no sense for the Cowboys to sell the farm for one guy, Darren Mcfadden when you have a Probowler and a top five back in the NFL in Marion The Barberian Barber!!!

Couldn't agree more! If we are going to make a run, we need to make our defense better.

Makes perfect sense as long as it's at 22 and not a trade up. That'll never happen though.

what do you think they have been doing since 1998? wade has his coaches now so maybe he can get all of these guys on defense to perform at the highest peak. jerry is going to make a deal with oakland to get mcfadden.

I prefer Felix Jones myself anyhow, he should be around when Dallas is on the board.

I'm not sure I agree with the premise of Barber being a top 5 back.

I like him too but we're not moving up into the top 5 to grab him. All these people who think we're just going to sell the farm to get DMac, simply cause he's an Arkansas back, need their heads examined.

All that I am saying, you are taking it wrong, I want us to continue building the defense. Yes, we did it with coaches, now do it with players.

Well, I see the argument for keeping Barber, and drafting a complement for him...

But calling him a top five back in the league is beyond asinine...

Asinine? He is arguably the toughest and most physical back in the league. He isn't a homerun threat - but he will punish LBers and DBs like few can.

Let's get him a quick complimentary back to prolong his career.

While this is true, time for a reality check here-- Barber just finished his best season in the NFL, and he ranked 18th in the league in rushing...

One might, if one wished, argue that he has the POTENTIAL to BECOME a top 5 back in the league, but there is no rational argument to be made for him being even a top 10 back at this point in time...

I'm a big Darren McFadden fan, but at this point, getting him looks way too costly, so I'm coming around to keeping Barber as the lead back, and finding a good complementary backup for him, as you suggest...

But if a situation develops where the Boys could get D-Mac for a reasonable price (and that price could include Barber in the package), then I'd be up for making that move...

I don't know exactly what I'd consider a "reasonable price" at this point, but I'll know it if I see it... LOL...

Well that seals it for me, if Schlereth says we shouldn't do it, then we shouldn't do it.....

Was that a shot across the bow - or is it mosquito season already?

Barber labored in a two-back system... and NOT that i have any problem with that. But he's a rough and ready baller who did everything asked of him. While guys logging more carries mighta blown you away (and all 17 ahead had more CPG than Barber) - how many of them had a higher YPC? 17? Uh... nope. Try 3.

You can't un-sell me on Barber. He's for real...
