block yes catching no. the guy has 600 yards in 5 years lol
I get your point but if you’re saying there’s no athletic upside that would be wrong since his SPARQ and testing numbers are top tier for a TE.

The issue is he didn’t show it much on tape. The upside is technically there, it just needs to be shown on the field. They didn’t draft a guy with average athletic traits, they took a guy with the physical upside to be a real player.

Actually I hate Michigan. That was the goal it was said many times - we have to improve the blocking. Think Prescott and running game.
well theres something we can agree on I hate Michigan as well..So the drawback was specifically the TE position blocking? Because the Line which is an issue does not have a problem with run blocking. Its the pass blocking thats poor they are top 5 at run blocking. Shultz was a terrible blocking TE I get that but Im not sure our sample size for ferg was enough to prompt them to reach for a TE in my opinion. We had 3 years of proof Schultz couldnt block. I also think them relying on Zeke more than Pollard as he average 5.2 per carry

The running game was not an issue until Steele went down or became a bigger issue. Plus we played some solid fronts later in the year. I literally hate the pick but if he turns out to be some sort of godsend Ill be happy.

You can watch every game and never once did his tape match his SPARQ and testing numbers. We've now gone full Al Davis when drafting TE's. With all that athleticism he struggles to separate at the top of routes, struggled mightily breaking tackles and making people miss. So where is this top tier athleticism?

I'm pretty sure that you didn't watch every game. His highlights are pretty good and at the combine his 40 was pretty much the same as Washington. Isn't he quicker than Washington?

So you just gonna ignore my whole second paragraph lol?

So again, the athleticism is there since it’s clocked, timed, and measured. The issue is now bringing it out.

You’re completely in your right to be skeptical and there is sound reasoning behind it. But that doesn’t change the fact that the team did draft a guy with a high ceiling due to athletic upside. They did not select a player with a measured athletic ceiling. Will it show up on the field? Who knows. But at least they actually took a guy with the athletic traits to have a chance.

Hes just still mad over Martellus Bennet not being able to dislodge Witten ……apparently both of them literally hate Witten.

Washington is considered mostly a blocking TE. He won't be able to get open at the NFL level. Should be a goalline threat.

Darnell is bigger, stronger, and 21 years old. His highlights were a blocking clinic a player you can get on day 3

I was agreeing with your 2nd paragraph and just going in a little more depth in why I didn't see his athleticism on tape.
