Hendershot got some snaps and caught a pass last night for the Chiefs. I wish Andy Reid and his staff were the Cowboys coaches. Because ours don't seem to know what they are doing.

Coaching matters and the Cowboys have many poor coaches including their TE coach. I'd like to see a really good TE coach and OC work with Schoon to see if he can become a better contributor on offense. I see Schoon playing on special teams as expected. But we need him producing on offense where we clearly need lots of help.

Our last four 2nd round picks:

Marshawn Kneeland - injured
Luke Schoonmaker - dog house
Sam Williams - injured/suspended
Kelvin Joseph - out of the league

2nd round for 31 other teams - Find a difference maker immediate starter.
2nd round for 1 team - Play round for owner who pretends he is a football genius to draft players with a history of injury, character concerns, or positions we don't actually need to make him feel good.

We need to stop trying to get cute ....... Jerry thinks he's outsmarting the rest of the league by using the pick on players he thinks have true 1st round value and end up overdraft. Stop getting cute and draft a solid 2nd player.

You'd think a 40 year old TE would have confidence playing football since leather helmet days.

The best way to gain confidence is to get benched? LOL.

Go back to the Pittsburgh game when Schoonmaker pancaked TJ Watt, and I mean he bowled him over on a run play. Show him that play 15 times in a row and that will help him gain some confidence. He is not going to get it sitting on the bench. And what better time to put him out there than a lost season?

No wonder this team has so many holes. We have blown eight or nine straight second round draft picks. That's eight or nine starters who could be helping this team. This is the fourth backup tight end we've taken in the second round in the last 15 years. How many more do we need to take before we realize it's a bad idea?

Once again, the game gets a little bit harder when you don't have the offensive coaches telling you the exact defense/coverage that the other team is playing right before the snap. Pretty easy to look good when you know it's a corner blitz and you are the hot read. His best hope was to be drafted by the Patriots 10+ years ago.

Schoonmaker caught all of 35 passes his senior year. 54 total, in 5 years.

Sooooo, exactly what made us think he was 2nd round worthy?
And he was what 24, 25?

He was a decent blocker, but not good enough to be a real blocking TE. He also had a solid (but not special) athletic profile. However his receiving package was a mess

Alot of overprojections of what "could be". Especially for an older prospect. Reality was he was a day 3 caliber prospect. He has been proving that in the NFL. No one that drafted him before the mid 4th was going to get their moneys worth
