Schottenheimer just makes so much sense

There's going to be alot of crow eaten here when Shotty breaks out the new offense that he's been keeping under wraps

His complex offense will be motion heavy and passing plays will scheme wide open receivers all over the field.

His playbook will make Sean Paytons offense look like a Pop Warner offense.

Everybody just needs to remember where they where when the announcement of HC is given to Shotty so we can all tell our grandchildren about it

Beats chest twice... kisses fingers...points upward
NOW it all makes sense. :)

The Schottenheimer smoke tells us Jerry is more interested in being comfy and being in control then winning.

His ego cannot let him merely hire a great HC and let them do their thing.

His ego demands all the credit.
except we're told stephen is driving the shott-car.

I don’t know. I don’t think this team makes any decisions without Jerry’s approval.

Doesn’t matter if it’s him or Stephen anyway. They’re two peas in a pod, both unqualified to run an NFL team.

won't argue that. i never saw stephen as anything more than a jr jones.

Most every story will be....

I was posting on CZ ... errr ... I was complaining, as usual, on CZ, when the official announcement came out ( it is not official until posted by @Risen Star ).

....Risen broke the news to us a usual, sending us all into a tizzy (whatever that is) for months. So bad I forgot about the FA and draft, that they apparently participated in. At least Jerry told us they did..... and that is how we all remember that infamous day in Cowboys lore.
Wouldn’t it be ironic and incredible if Shotty is hired and becomes the next great Cowboys coach though?

His record and experience is fair game to criticize but if he is hired I will wait to see how he does as a HC and will keep the roster he has to work with into account too.

Most of us knew that MM had a deficient roster even before the injuries

1) He is the son of a famous former HC. Jerry loves that.

2) He is a first time HC, desperate for a chance at a head gig. Jerry loves that. He can use that to leverage authority over Schottenheimer as he jams his preferred assistants (cough, cough, Witten) down the throat of Brian.

3) He's probably fairly cheap, relatively speaking, for a HC. You know Jerry loves that.

4) He's been in the building already, so Jerry already knows him. Jerry loves that as he doesn't have to put a ton of effort and money into an exhaustive search.

5) It's a controversial hire which means Jerry gets tons of publicity but also, it fits right in with Jerry's belief he's a maverick and a football genius and the people don't know how good Schottenheimer is. When he succeeds, it will make Jerry look like the football genius he so desperately wants to be seen as.

6) Schottenheimer isn't going to squawk in the offseason about FAs, etc. In fact, I suspect Jerry basically told him this is what you are going get, can you live with that? This gets back to #2 - desperation.

You'll note that nowhere on this list is any talk of Schottenheimer's coaching acumen. Because, honestly, he has none. But that's secondary to Jerry. There are more important factors in hiring a coach than whether or not the coach in question has shown a great aptitude at what he does.

This franchise is so screwed. In fact, I am pretty sure now that Philly and Washington has lapped us, the Giants may do so in the next year or two.
Giants will draft Sanders. Then we will see Deion in NY in 2026.

I’m going to take a contrarian view. I have zero idea how Schottenheimer will do as HC. He’s only been a Coordinator with questionable results. But there are plenty of outstanding coordinators that failed miserably as a head coach. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as long as a creative OC is brought onboard.

Have the Cowboys ever had a more invisible OC than Brian Schottenheimer? He's certainly never gotten the media buzz or game-time camera time guys like Kellen Moore or Norv Turner did. To be honest, I wouldn't recognize the chap if he walked in to my office right now.

What evidence have we of his leadership/motivational skills? His reputation & level of respect in the locker room? (Asking quite sincerely.)

you lost on me bravery.

its such propaganda and manipulation...its sickening really
my sarcasm is intense at times, my apologies.

dust from the ashes that fell decades ago is getting brave making people think there's anything left to watch fall.

I will say one thing positive: It could force a "hire Parcells to get stadium built" type hire. I think a Shottenhiemer regime will cut alot of fan and media interest. This roster isnt what it was in 2022, and a weak coach is 6-11/7-10. You string a couple those seasons together you get few SM mentions and fewer prime time games

Jerry has it all filed on his computer, he knows every in and out of the great Shotty

I got to ask: Who's going to break the news to Michael Irvin?

To be fair. Let's also say this, Ben Johnson and Glenn have never been a HC before now either. Does that disqualify THEM if the same argument applies to THEM and Shotty? Just saying, Glenn is a year older than Shotty. Nobody truly knows who will be a good HC or who won't til they do it. Just offering up the flip side to the coin.
