Pollard improved to a quality blocker before the end of the season. He had a few issues very early in the season, but was solid later.
Absolutely. I was always fearful of him being relied on the pick up the blitz. But he learned and the improvement was noticeable.

They were together for 3 years in Seattle.

The running game was very good during those 3 seasons.
2018: 1st in total rushing yards
2019: 4th in total rushing yards.
2020: 7th in yards/carry
Time to rebuild THE GREAT WALL.

Absolutely. As was that awesome DLine. Team started going downhill when Lynch got old and they let DLiners go to pay Earl and Richard.

Wilson never was the critical factor.
And he didn't have to be. Balance. When he's expected to "carry a team" he struggles.

I wish we had that running style & success. Take a load off Dak a bit.

I can see the colorful "terms of endearment" around here when the offense sputters.

INT one in SF when the CB and the SF defense watched Kendall Fuller jump consecutive routes at Fed Ex field highlight reels and said that looks like fun the SF jump route pick occurs first half your driving in a 6-6 game and the object at 2nd and 2 is keep the ball drain clock score before half .

Instead on 2nd and 2 your slinging it around and instead of dialing up a chain stretch run you throw a pick .

I hope under the three horsemen Mac Schottemheimer Solari the Cowboys become more physical at the point of attack and run the ball in that situation down someone’s throat .

And given the current state of the Cowboys running back depth chart i for one hope Malik Davis is more of part of a RB committee system employed effectively in places like Seattle SF and to some degree the earlier McVay Rams . Remember Gurley and Anderson running for over 200 yards Rams knocked Garrett’s Cowboys out Of the playoffs .

I am going to be incredibly generous and say Schottenheimer body of work is at best mediocre.

Does this tweet stop at 2015, though?

The next time he was an offensive coordinator, he had the league's top rushing offense and Wilson had his best passer rating, as was pointed out by the OP. Even when he got fired in 2021, it was the year that Seattle set a franchise record for points scored. However, much like with our offensive coordinators, he was out after a playoff failure.

I agree that most of his work is mediocre at best, but there are a couple of high points in there. I think the OP's point was he's been reunited him with the line coach with whom he had some of those high points.

I'm not feeling too confident overall with the choice based on his track record, but if we brought both of them in to improve our running game while McCarthy focuses on the passing game, I don't feel it's as shaky as it might seem. We'll see how it goes, though.

Davis made big plays consistently in limited action. His receiving stats were good. Good hands.

We kept saying more more more but they just kept feeding Zeke!!! And Zeke was burnt up!!

We are basically reverting back to Garrett ball. There will be lots of gut runs and hitch routes.

I doubt this HC/OC marriage lasts more than one season.
McCarthy is not Garrett! You will see receivers blocking for screens though.

If they bring back Zeke in any other capacity other than to play fullback then I can’t take this team serious.
Even that is just as bad. If we want to have a full back just get a real one. Draft a young, cheap hungry guy. Zeke has to go for this team to move forward.

Even so, it's a lot to trust a rookie UDFA in a playoff game. I don't blame them for playing Zeke. We know he won't fumble or get the QB killed, even though he also won't threaten the D in any way. Gotta go with the reliable option in that scenario.

I haven’t seen anyone credible suggest run heavy and even if they have , I won’t believe it until I see it. MM doesn’t run the ball
Yes he does, when he has the back. He even converted a WR to RB in GB and gave him a decent amount of carries.

I don't know why he gets the pass happy coach when Reid is the only one to really be pass happy from the Walsh tree. Even Walsh was a run guy.

McC is associated with two of the pass happiest QB's in league history, Favre and Rodgers, but that was as much about keeping his QB happy. I think McC wants to be a meant n potatoes coach with a balanced offense and they only passed the ball 51% of the time last season.

His QB this go round is coming off a season in which he led the league in picks and is catching all the heat for his two picks in the playoff game. He will not have to appease a pass happy QB. Now, his owner, that's a different story because a 40M QB on a run first team is like a pith helmet on a tortoise.

2018: 1st in total rushing yards
2019: 4th in total rushing yards.
2020: 7th in yards/carry

They did that with average RBs like Chris Carson.

The complaints about Schottenheimer were with regards to the passing game.
- In Dallas the passing game will be McCarthy's responsibility.
- Also, in retrospect, Russel Wilson might have been declining more than fans/media realized.

Just a guess but from what I gather:

1. McCarthy will call the plays

2. Less option routes meaning WRs will run the plays as designed an not read the defense

3. More run heavy (hopefully run heavy doesn’t mean painfully predictable)
2. A WR always has to read the defense no matter what route is called. In the first two steps off the line of scrimmage, a receiver will need to determine the coverage and the conversion route based upon that coverage.

Sure. Make whatever excuses you want to make. This team won’t run the ball more next season.
