McCarthy was the Cowboys Head Coach in 2022:

2022 Cowboys: 5th in rushing attempts

In Green Bay he had Brett Farve and Aaron Rodgers at QB...why wouldn't he go pass heavy?
When you go back in MM's history, he has run the ball when he has the talent to do so, Duece McAllister had a 1,600 rushing season when he was the Saints OC. He also was with the Chiefs early on where they had strong runners.

Just a guess but from what I gather:

1. McCarthy will call the plays

2. Less option routes meaning WRs will run the plays as designed an not read the defense

3. More run heavy (hopefully run heavy doesn’t mean painfully predictable)
Two teams that played in the NFCC game were run heavy . Their offenses did ok.

They were together for 3 years in Seattle.

The running game was very good during those 3 seasons.
2018: 1st in total rushing yards
2019: 4th in total rushing yards.
2020: 7th in yards/carry

They did that with average RBs like Chris Carson.

The complaints about Schottenheimer were with regards to the passing game.
- In Dallas the passing game will be McCarthy's responsibility.
- Also, in retrospect, Russel Wilson might have been declining more than fans/media realized.

Oddly the reports i keep reading in on Schott's dismissal firing from Seattle offense as OC was a questionable lack of run game: .

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...tenheimer-shows-its-petes-way-or-the-highway/

Maybe it was Carroll’s desire to run more, or at least pass more judiciously

Pete Carroll’s solution to Seahawks’ second-half offensive woes? ‘We have to run it more’

https://apnews.com/article/nfl-seat...ssell-wilson-79e07d469f13cbe76e4a1f6f5124a4ff
" Carroll and Wilson both noted after the season a concern with the lack of counters to how defenses were playing the Seahawks. Carroll said Monday that one of his top priorities going into next season was to re-establish being a run-dominant team.

“It’s really a football thing. It’s a scheme thing and I want to see if we can run the ball more effectively to focus the play of the opponents and see if we can force them to do things like we’d like them to do more, like we have been able to do that in the past,” Carroll said. “That doesn’t mean we’re going to run the ball 50 times a game, it means we need to run the ball with direction and focus and style that allows us to dictate the game.”

Clearly, what Carroll wanted didn’t fit with Schottenheimer’s view of how to move forward. "

Hopefully McCarthy, Schottenheimer and Solari are on the same page.

Kellen Moore seemed to be disconnectedd from the OL & RB coaches.
That's the key, having the run/passing game work together.

Or maybe he was declining but it didn't become apparent until he left Seattle for a new system/team? Maybe it's not a coincidence that Russ started to stink while Geno Smith became a pro bowler in the same season?
He was in sea in 21

When your #1 WR is not reading the defense correctly you have problems. Lamb did that a lot this year. Thank the Lord those are hopefully a thing of the past!

Yeah. If you don’t have an elite QB then you can get away with mediocre QBs with a strong run game and defense.
They just need to work well off the other, KM's biggest problem to me was that it never really seemed we used plays to set up other plays, as you said the league is a passing league by design now BUT you can use the run for a purpose in it. I dont hate Curl routes but shouldnt they eventually lead to a double move? a delayed draw? fake the CD curl and get the RB out in a screen to the opposite side...thats what i never saw with KM

Their offensive line was offensive too. They literally invested nothing into it.

The first and most important part of that is realizing you don’t have an elite QB.

Jerry and son seem to think that he is, and even if by chance someone in the building grows enough of a pair to suggest that he isn’t, Jerry’s likely response is that he is paying Dak to be elite, so he therefore IS, and wants things to be centered around him.

Hopefully McCarthy understands all this and can come up with something to mitigate all of it. If he ever wins here, considering all that has to be overcome, it would be one hell of an accomplishment.

Either way he will get his 30 million and lifetime security for his family, Jerry got a puppet for five years, and the fans end up with ugatz.

INTs in 2020 almost double INTs in 2019 & 2018.
IN 2020...

He still threw for 40 TD's (most in his career), .4,212 yards (2nd most in his career, 7 yards short of a career high), the highest completion percentage of his career (68.8%) and a rating of 105.1 (the third highest in his career).

Come on man, INT's in ONE stat, stop cherry picking.

Edit: Oh and his INT's dropped from 13 to 6 in 2021.

I haven’t seen anyone credible suggest run heavy and even if they have , I won’t believe it until I see it. MM doesn’t run the ball
Eddie Lacy's rookie year (2013), GB ran for 2100+ yards (133+ ypg) when Rodgers got hurt. The 2 years that Lacy was the featured RB, they averaged 127 ypg. So, McCarthy WILL run the ball. Just figured he had a HOF QB, so let's throw it all day.

Thats a better strategy than waiting, hoping and wasting multiple high draft picks for the next Mahomes. Especially when you already have a very good defense.

You know when you have an elite QB and you know when you don’t.

Dak should never have got paid.
