You didn't say he was getting paid for one year what a top 5 TE gets, you said he had a top 5 contract. So, yes, you did compare to top 5 contracts, which are, in fact, multi year deals.lol sheesh. had a bit more respect for you as a poster than warranted it seems. I didnt compare or suggest any comparison to multi-year deals, this is strictly about his salary this year, what's ridiculous is to incorporate that strawman, for.... exactly what? I'm not sure.
I also don't need the tag and it's usage/implications explained to me like a child, or to be condescended about my opinion on a message board on which you participate and share opinions as well. Considering we kicked Amari to the curb, lost Randy etc I feel like using the tag on someone as replaceable as Schulz was a poor usage of resources. Sorry that my opinion offends you so much, as well as the standard usage of "deserves" which you seem completely baffled by. Tag = money, no one cares about the tag itself, referencing means the guaranteed money attached to it. And I care about as much as I care about McDonalds bringing back the McRib. It's something to discuss and have an opinion on.
As for explaining the tag, when it is repeatedly referred to as a distinction a player either deserves or doesn't then it needs to be explained. What an employee that is not under contract in any other industry would "deserve" is the opportunity to negotiate the best deal he can on the open market, but in the NFL there is the opportunity for a team to deny that. That shouldn't be cheap, and for the Cowboys it's not about what Schultz deserves, it's a business decision related to what the team feels it needs for the 2022 season.
And stop the "I'm sorry my opinion offends you" nonsense. That's just an empty comment meant as a pseudo slap at me. This is a discussion on a public forum, and in case you missed it I'm not the only one and participating.
