Scott Linehan’s relationship with Kellen Moore goes way back, before Linehan became Moore’s coach in the NFL. So it comes as no surprise that Linehan remains one of Moore’s biggest fans.

The Cowboys offensive coordinator believes in Moore, with the two starting their fifth season together with two different teams.

“He has been in my room for a lot of years,” Linehan said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “He knows the system. He is one of those guys who can function without a lot of reps. He is a great feel player. That is a great thing for backups. He works so hard mentally.

Meh I would prefer better. We turned down better.

But if Linehan trusts him, I have no ill will. He was the one pushing for Dak and had a lot to do with his development.

I imagine Moore could be adequate for a game or two if Dak had to miss a couple weeks for a concussion or something along those lines. Our season is over if Dak misses significant time.

Unless we can bribe someone out of retirement.

Keeping an eye out for C. Jones, if the Bills release him.

Adequate for Moore needs to be no more than 2-3 ints in a game.

I'm not that concerned.

The two easiest years to play QB for the Cowboys in the last 15 years have been 2014 and 2016--with the monster oline, dominant RB, a various weapons.
Now with D slowly getting better, the job (and pressure) should continue to get easier.

You still have to execute the plays, but it's not like playing for 15-20 of the other current teams and definitely nothing like in Dallas in 2011-2013. lol
As long as it's short term, he can drive the bus.

Anyway, Dak seems very durable.

Can Moore be our Jason Garrett of this era? (Jason Garrett as in backup QB not coach)

Dont throw me off the cliff but i like Moore...yes he is small and has a noodle arm but the guy is accurate passer and he knows the offense as good as Linehan...He will know how to minimze his weanesses on the field and still put offense in good position to score...just my humble opinion

I guess but I feel we can do better. He wasn't that impressive in 15 but he's been here 2 years now so the coaches know more than I do

I'm ok with Moore, but only coming from the place that I almost always hate our options at backup QB. Other than when Orton was here, I can't remember actually being satisfied with our #2 back there. At least, I like smart players who lack physical skills to old players who's skills have left them and dumb players who are trying to develop.

I'd have preferred we made a run at somebody like Fitz, when he was available. But since we didn't, I like Moore better than some options out there.

I don't doubt that Kellen Moore is plenty savvy when it comes to the mental aspect of the game, although his physical characteristics tend to betray his ability to produce good results at the pro football level, imho. Floating passes are, far too often, irresistible temptations for DBs to pick off. I think it's just a matter of time before the Cowboys replace him.

I get your point. I am no Moore apologist ---I wanted Ryan Fitzpatrick---but he had very little to work with when he played and he was a QB for a team playing for nothing but pride. You would expect he would be better if he filled in for a team with a healthy Dez and Zeke.
