Scott Weiland Has Passed Away

Mine too. They opened for Nine Inch Nails back at the Starplex in DFW.

That would have been a great show. I saw them at starplex, err smirnoff, err Gexa too. I only remember a local band opening for them; Local H.

It was. The freaks were out like gang-busters for NIN. The hippy lettuce was flowing like wine. Contact high.

He played a show here in Corpus back in April. I was planning to go (and even do the meet and greet) but something else came up at the last minute.

That show ended up being notorious for how out of it Weiland was, and all the media sites talked about it (Rolling Stone, etc). I figured I'd catch him later some time. Wish I'd gone now. RIP.

I know he has a kid or two and married. Weiland doesn't shock me at all.

I read that Cornell went through rehab and has cleaned himself up. Family probably had a lot to do with it.
Hopefully he stays the course. That guy has a powerful voice.

Yep..Badmotorfinger is in my top 5 90's albums...his singing on slaves and bulldozers is insane

RIP. Always loved his voice.

I believe he cleaned up after the Mother Love Bone singer died from heroin.

I believe Cornell fell off the wagon after Soundgarden broke up. From his interviews, it seems he's been clean and doing well for quite some time now. Good for him, I'm tired of these legendary grunge artists dying on us in tragic ways.

Damn, I really liked him. He always reminded me of an old friend of mine that overdosed on pills. It's too bad he couldn't escape his demons. Rest In Peace dude

MTV Unplugged was so good for grunge bands and all ended up being classics, sucks Soundgarden never went on there in the 90s.

Right, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots were all great on Unplugged. The talent is allowed to shine when it's stripped down like that, nowhere to hide.

Cornell was my favorite among the big grunge bands as well.
Although I don't think he has half the voice he used to have.

Man there's a lot of outdated info in regards to Cornell on here. He seems to be a clear-headed family guy now and his latest solo album (not going to be everyone's cup of tea) has probably his best vocals I've heard.

As far as Layne vs Scott..well my opinion on the matter isn't going to be popular in this thread so I'll leave that out. RIP Scott
