Would this defense be as good with a healthy Lee and without Rolando?

If the Cowboys pay Rolando, does this mean Lee will not be back next season?

Lee will be back playing next to McClain. At this point I think If I had to choose I would go with Mcclain. Just don't think Lee will ever stay healthy but he will be given one last shot.....

I think Lee moves to the outside and Ro would stay at MLB. I think Ro being the bigger player is more suited for working inside and Lee quickness and the way he can quickly break down plays and get to the spot would make him a good fit outside

If Rolando can keep his head in the game hes the best option. Lee is just a lucky bonus right now. Counting on him is a mistake.

McClain is very physical, but I'm not sure that he's better than Lee. Who knows how good Lee will be coming of a major injury, but at this point, I want Lee at weakside LB.

it's not just about the injury problems, it's the intangibles ro brings and the fact that he's 3 years younger than lee. mike fisher said last week that ro is already one of the leaders in the locker room. he's plays with intensity/intimidation and the rest of the players feed off that.

McClain more suited to the middle, bigger body and able to withstand the contact; put Lee outside and continue to let him be the general he is too smart to keep quiet.

Yeah, Ro has that "Don't mess with me" mentality like Charles Haley had. Fires the team up!!

As far as the first question goes, it's hard to tell. For all the love McClain is deservingly getting, Lee plays on a a Pro Bowl level when he's in there. No doubt he would have made that same interception. He's been the leader of the defense and makes stops all over the place like McClain does. They are different players but each get the job done.

So to answer your other question, there's also no doubt that we keep both. The player who might lose out because of that is Carter, especially if Durant is retained.

Let's see if we can sign Ro before we start worrying about who plays where and how good they will be . I , like most all of us, would love to see what we could have with both on the field tho. Hope we make it happen. Ro has changed this defense

its a wonderful problem when you consider who the Cowboys were relying on before. Brooking was a great linebacker in his day but had slowed to the point he was a liability

They've both had issue staying healthy. Having both would significantly increase the probability that one of them is always on the field.

At this point, I'd love to keep them all: Lee, McClain, Carter and Durant. I don't know if it's realistic, but it actually would give us a rotation of linebackers who deserve to be on the field. We might can even throw Hitchens into that group if he continues to develop.

I love how LB has gone from a weakness last year to a strength. Durant is playing out of his MIND.
