Sean Lee or Luke Kuechly

That's a tough question. A couple of variables you have to think about. One, Luke was taken in the first round. So, you would have to give up tryon smith. Also, you would have to consider lee's and smith's potential vs Luke's stats and potential (plus their second to be fair). That's if you want to TRY and make it an apples to apples comparison. If you want to disregard all that, give me luke.

Regardless of draft position = Kuechly
Taking draft position into consideration = S.Lee

I would say give Kuechly another year. I don't think it should be a problem and he's likely to have a great year, but you can't just go off one season and proclaim a guy to be the next Dick Butkus. To Lee's credit he has just gotten better and better. Players don't always do that.

Kuechly 165 total tackels per year, Sean Lee 62 tackles per year.:D

Per game (or per carry or per whatever) stats don't mean a lot unless you play almost all the games. Otherwise Felix Jones would be one of the best Rbs in the league.

I will give you this, Sean Lee is a real playmaker and I'm thrilled we have him.

Btw, as a rookie, Kuechly also had 2 ints and 3 fumble recoveries and a sack.
If you like Kuechly better that's cool. I think they're both amazing linebackers and you can't go wrong with either. Glad one of them plays for my team!

until lee can prove he can stay on the field all year then kuechly is my pick. if lee gets hurt again this year and misses more then two games then there is no way the cowboys can commit to lee for a long term contract.

I would take Kuechley and Lee is my 2nd favorite current player.

Didn't know Kuechly was so young. Now it's him even when figuring in of draft position.

Trade value wise, Kuechly (#9) cost the equivalent of 4x Sean Lee (#55).

The real question should be, would you take 4 players like Sean Lee on your team or just 1 Kuechly.

That isn't exactly fair because you would never get four Sean Lee's for one Kuechly.

I honestly believe Sean Lee, as measured by productivity per play, is the best ILB in the NFL. He has superior pass defense skills for a ILB.

If Lee was consistently healthy, this wouldn't even be a debate IMO -- however, Lee's dependability is a huge question mark.

Nothing pains me more than Lee's inability to stay healthy -- he might be my favorite Cowboy.

That's preposterous on so many levels.

Anyway, the question had nothing to do with draft position, it was who would you take right now....period.

And even if they did go by that far-fetched scenario that you spelled out and by some miracle you thought you could have 4 picks at Sean Lees spot the odds of them being a Sean Lee are zero.

I love Sean Lee!

But also these measures of productivity per play are hugely deceiving.
You have to play all the time for that to be a true measure/factor.
To take it to the extreme. Some jag could play 3-4 downs and happen to get an interception and a tackle....then ride the bench for 4 years.
Now all of a sudden he is the most productive player at his position in the league on a per play basis.

I'm thrilled that we have Lee. But you guys are not doing an apples/apples thing at all.

The Cowboys basically have Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, Gavin Escobar and part of Morris Claiborne for the equivalent of what Kuechly would have cost.

I think you'll find little argument that Sean Lee was a better value than Luke Kuechly. But if the question is who would you rather have, meaning both are instantly available and want the same amount of money, then the debate changes completely
