(an English teacher isn't a job, but teaching English is.)

Let me rephrase that, Professor of English: "Let's hope that your second job isn't as an English teacher." Or "Let's hope your second job isn't teaching English.";)

Technically, if his secondary profession is say, a prostitute, and he refers to his clients as jobs. Then he can say that. :)

He probably will need to find a coaching job in the future if he keeps giving up $2 million bonuses. Young man you have to take the money while you can, NFL is "not for long" like the Jerry Glanville said.

Usually in position and has football smarts. Just like Witten. And both possess the mental toughness needed for leadership in my opinion.

OK . . . yet, out of 20 or so defensive players on the team, Sean, in your opinion, has the most to offer as a coach? I mean, I don't see your assertion so much as a valid one but one based on emotion, like voting for the popular guy in school just because he is popular and your mom and dad would approve of him.
I really don't get this "let's make him a coach" meme, mate. Players, if they want to coach, will be recognized on their ideas, discipline, clarity of vision, mental organization, preparation etc.
Witten, too. I have never equated stardom (not that Lee has it) as a prerequisite to coaching, though personality and connections and privilege and entitlement might get some the job.
I say all this with all doo respect, bloke.

I always though Charlie Waters and Mike Singletary would be good coaches, boy was I wrong. That's why I give credit to Reeves and Ditka for being great players who became great head coaches....very hard to do.

Classy of him, another reason why he's my favorite player. Sean of all people, a guy who went through so much **** with all the injuries, always understanding it could be over any day, for him to just say no to that money that we owe him, money that he was supposed to get, to just say no to 2 million bucks just like that...just stand up. Hope he sticks around even after he retires as an assistant and then maybe become the defensive coordinator and who knows, 5-10 years from now maybe a HC candidate. He has everything you want in a HC. Intelligence, people skills, knowledge, leadership skills, the fans and players respect him. What more do you want.

I gotta admit, he is a better man than me...........I would have had my arse out on that field hobbling around on one leg for $2 million.

Maybe not if you already made 20m and could make another 17m in the next 3 years anyways.

Parcells said he thought LB Fujita would make a good coach someday. I also thought Dat Nguyen would also make a good coach. He did coach for a while. Maybe he still is coaching somewhere. Lee is the captain (or one of the captains) of the defense and Witten of the offense. Witten and Romo are known to have drawn up plays together. I think all the players look up to Witten and Lee and respect them for their leadership, effort, and knowledge. Sometimes you just see it and can't really put your finger on it. I suspect Lee has a big say in the film room.

Michael Irvin would be an awesome head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Too bad Irvin said he wants no parts of coaching even though the Cowboys have repeatedly reached out to him according to rumor.

Meh. I would have started and taken the money...and then donated it to a charity.

it makes for a good story but you can't play with a pulled hamstring

there is no way he could fake it and he would look like a greedy fool hopping around at half speed

Yes, well, a well-thought-of response, chap. I am now more inclined to think higher of Sean, Witten, et. al as to their coaching abilities.
But I take great issue that Irvin would be an awesome head coach. The guy, a favorite player of mine, cannot put a sentence together and his thoughts seem woefully disorganized. He also has a bigger heart than his brain; witness him driving all over the Metroplex trying to find a dumpster into which to throw a crack pipe so his friend could not smoke further and take the Devil's path.
Big heart, small brain -- just like Sir Jones.

I have a ton of respect for Lee even before this. He has had misfortune with injuries but the guy gives his all and is an impact player on the field. Hell I wish more guys had his heart and fight, we would likely be in the playoffs.
