Ultimately there is no point because the team just isn't that good in the first place. They're worse without him.
Not that it's really even that big of a deal. Has anyone actually looked at Lees contract? It's basically as low risk as you can get for the price and the reward is astronomical.
They could cut him after next year and only have $6M in dead money. AFter 2015 and it'd be $4M.
When you factor in his $15M in cap hits, that means that they'd only take a total of $19M in cap hits over 3 years......$6M per year.......for a guy who is worth that and then some.
So yes, it sucks that he's hurt but anyone cirticizing this contract out of all the contracts they could is just looking for something to pile on about.
I am not a fan of how Dallas handles the salary cap and that's been more than documented for at least 2-3 seasons. This ONE particular contract is one of the few that I think are written very favorably for Dallas......because of the injury possibility that was there.
And this is the issue where you stated we can easily cut him. Well yeah. You can easily cut anyone in the NFL. No contracts are guaranteed for the life you sign. Just certain money. That would be even more dead money on top of all the dead money we already have.
We do not sign smart deals.
