Ultimately there is no point because the team just isn't that good in the first place. They're worse without him.

Not that it's really even that big of a deal. Has anyone actually looked at Lees contract? It's basically as low risk as you can get for the price and the reward is astronomical.

They could cut him after next year and only have $6M in dead money. AFter 2015 and it'd be $4M.

When you factor in his $15M in cap hits, that means that they'd only take a total of $19M in cap hits over 3 years......$6M per year.......for a guy who is worth that and then some.

So yes, it sucks that he's hurt but anyone cirticizing this contract out of all the contracts they could is just looking for something to pile on about.

I am not a fan of how Dallas handles the salary cap and that's been more than documented for at least 2-3 seasons. This ONE particular contract is one of the few that I think are written very favorably for Dallas......because of the injury possibility that was there.

And this is the issue where you stated we can easily cut him. Well yeah. You can easily cut anyone in the NFL. No contracts are guaranteed for the life you sign. Just certain money. That would be even more dead money on top of all the dead money we already have.

We do not sign smart deals.

Lee played has played 8.25 out of 9 games this season. How does that compare to the average on our defensive roster? If he misses the next 4 games...how will that compare in terms of games/downs played?

I understand the concern about his health...but let's keep it real. Injuries are everywhere in this league.

Willis has missed 5 games in 6.5 seasons. Sean Lee might miss 5 games this year alone.

And he's been hurt every year in Dallas, and was hurt at Penn St. I remember his rookie year he suffered something like 5 separate injuries, though he was able to play through most of them (and with a cast).

Pretending like Lee's injuries are the norm is just being dishonest about it. He's injury prone, and the Cowboys will never be able to count on him.

FYI, most of what is being said today makes it look like he's gone for the season.

The money wasted on these injured gimps can be used for someone else. And the alternative happens every single season. So what's the point of having him here to begin with?

Like replacing Sean Lee with someone else's crappier cast off?

Yeah, well I'd take Lee out there for 8-10 games over every other piece of garbage on defense.

If you haven't noticed, Lee is far from the only player getting hurt. The whole team is a walking medical unit. I wish I could remember the last time we had our "starting" team healthy. It has to be something, either improper training and preparation or we are seriously cursed.

Sean Lee has played every game this season. Guess what? We were the. Worst defense in the league with him and it can't get that much worse without him. I'd rather have a guy who is less talented but dependable, than a guy that you know is going to let you down somewhere along the line!!!

Sooo, based on the knee-jerk, childlike reaction of some posters, the following players should be cut due to being injury prone:
Morris Claiborne
DeMarco Murray
Sean Lee
DeMarcus Ware
Miles Austin
Anthony Spencer
Lance Dunbar
Why not add these players while you're at it?
Bruce Carter
Justin Durant
Matt Johnson
JJ Wilcox (injured first season, must be injury prone)
Devonte Holloman (see above)
Yes, I post this in jest but some of you people really need to vent in other ways. To get pissed at the team or a player because they get injured and demand they be cut is idiotic. Injuries are part of the NFL, every team deals with them.
