For me I always looked at blindside hits as coward shots. Especially because during practice there were offensive players who would do nothing but look to see what guys they can catch off guard for a blindside hit as opposed to taking them head on. Sure you got to keep your head on a swivel, but its a coward play by punk players.
So Tate shouldn't have blocked him because Lee wasn't looking at him? I would be upset if I were a Seahawks fan and Tate decided not to block Lee because he wanted to be nice and not hit Lee hard. Bad hits happen in football.
If you want to complain about Tate leading with the crown of the helmet I guess I could see that argument.

You're making up arguments now. I just said it was a coward play

Jeff Heath would be my vote to settle the score if Sean Lee doesnt get a chance... All I know is Jeff Heath almost went to prison for murder this past Sunday. Can't remember the name of the Tampa bay receiver, but, if he had caught the ball, he would have gone straight to the nearest emergency room.

I hope Lee kills him. Wouldn't mind a Jeff Heath missle shot on him, too (just ask Lockette how that feels).

Golden Tate is their best receiver and our players should want to punish him. Within the confines of the rules. Like the Lockette hit. :)

I'm not trying to make up anything. So you think it was clean but a coward play? I guess I just don't agree with it being a coward play. I just think of it as being part of the game. Now if Lee wasn't anywhere near the ball then that's a coward play (IE Warren Sapp hit)

The issue was with Tate's celebrating while Lee was down. Cowboys of the 70s or 90s would have ended Tate's season that day.
Agreed - that's what turned it into a scumbag cowardly move. And his off field issues involving his teammates (and why he's no longer playing for Seattle) just reinforces that.

I'm surprised at the number of people who seem to think this kind of hit is okay.

Yet they also seem to think retaliation/a penalty flag is warranted?

Hit on Lee was not okay, retaliation will be sweet if it happens, tho. C'mon, you wouldn't be happy to see Lee fly across the slot and destroy Tate, knowing in the back of your head what he did to him, RTS?

This is the day Ware lost me as a leader. Had a front row seat to the hit, didn't do nothing the rest of the game, then talked smack in the locker room. So weak.

Sean Lee gets his first opportunity to face Golden Tate since that cheapshot. I don't doubt for a second that he's forgot that hit. Add to the fact that he just got snubbed from the Pro Bowl? Wouldn't wanna be Tate on Monday night.

Barry Church vowed to get revenge on Tate for Lee in the playoff game vs. Detroit in 2015 (Lee wasn't healthy), but that never happened. I actually made a hype vid for that match-up vs. DET, where you can see how smug Golden Tate is:

Winning is revenge.

I boiled over about that play for awhile during and after that game.
Wrong on so many levels, but really amplified to way worse with the taunting afterwards

This again? It wasn't cheap it was damn near perfect, also if I weighed 180 and put that shot on a 250 pound LB I'd celebrate too.

Personally I love seeing football played this way, don't care if it happens to our guys or not because I'm starved for this style of play as it's rare in today's national flag football league.

All that said; light this dude up!

The NFL fined Tate $21,000 for the block.
The league office said the block was illegal because Tate launched himself into Lee, striking him in the chest and chin with the crown of his helmet

We need to look no further than this post, JC, when determining whether or not the hit was illegal. He was fined, ergo it was illegal.

Get him Boys.
