That's actually pretty damn funny. It's exactly the kind of thing you know Jerry would do if the roles were reversed.
I doubt it, even if he laughed.

if Payton did that, then they are being kind of cocky. they are going to learn very quickly that everyone is going to be gunning for them next year and wins are going to be much harder, because every week teams will be playing them like its the superbowl. that's one of the main reasons a lot of superbowl teams, dont' do as well the following year.

Whats a practical joke between two people who like and respect each other has to do with anything you just said?

Note to St. Elmo's. You're working for tips. I would have told Sean Payton that vintage was unavailable, but not why.

I have no issue with what Payton did, that's funny. Pretty sure Jerry would be amused, but a little pissed too.

Not smart business.

correct, if i own a fancy steakhouse im not pissing off a billionaire to make a coach happy...if you say you will have a product...you have that product when the client shows

Jerry has some excellent taste. I tried Caymus Special Selection cabernet sauvignon 2007 at Ruth Cris last month and it was one of the best wines I have ever had.

Payton is a mean man to steal JJ's wine. I am sure there will be payback some time down the road.

Some of those details are why I think some, if not all, the story is bogus.

The idea that the waiter would tell Payton there's just one bottle left and it's reserved for Jerry Jones makes no sense if the place has any class whatsoever.

When I order a meal at a place and they're out, they don't walk me over to the table of the guy that ordered the last one to show me where it went, they just say they're out.

And if they were so apprehensive about giving it away for fear of pissing off either the SB winner or Jerry, then why on earth would they proceed to leave and empty bottle and a note for Jones?

I kind of think you dont go around screwing with a billionaires wine. Even with a friendship, and one you didnt even beat his team at your best, and than go and drink the last bottle of wine, not good at all.

Oh, I'm sure Jerry's not above some good natured showing off to his fellow owners and coaches. In his circle, bragging rights are probably half the fun, and you know Jerry's capable of getting in digs of his own.

This wasn't a classless move by Payton, it was just a little harmless fun over a bottle of wine. Sleeping with Jerry's wife and leaving a 'who dat' note would be classless, not to mention way too far to take a joke.

Cold Blooded.

Payton, win 4 more then we can talk. The Saints have sucked since the dawn of time and win 1 Superbowl. You still fall on the lowest rung of the NFL.

The Saints get bragging rights all off-season. They won it all, we didn't. That's how it works. We just have to get nothing and like it until we can do better.

It's one thing if they're challenging our status as an organization, but they're clearly not. They're just (allegedly) enjoying the spoils of their victory. They deserve it.

How do you think most people would respond to this story if the Cowboys had won the SB and Jerry did this to Payton?

All hell would break lose and some of the people defending Payton would all of a sudden have a problem with such a thing.

Cowboys Jerry Jones and Sean Payton, take two

Our earlier post about the little joke New Orleans coach Sean Payton played on the Cowboys and Jerry Jones is a good one. Jones will get him back. But I don't think he was upset.

How do I know this? Well, let's just say Jones and Payton were spotted at another establishment in Indianapolis later that evening. The two were talking and laughing and a sharing a drink with other Cowboys staffers.

It was not a Caymus cab.

But what Payton doesn't know is that Jerry spit in his cup when he wasn't looking.

Why would Jerry do this to Payton? This isn't an, "If the roles were reversed" situation because if the roles were reversed, Payton would be a Billionaire owner and GM of a historically successful Saints team that let Jerry go to a joke of an NFL team in a devastated city only to watch Jerry win a Superbowl.

Wow! A Cowboys fan that can give an objective point of view. Who would've ever thought....
