Truth is, Dallas is not as good as they looked last week nor as bad as they looked today. Honestly, losing today is not that surprising; it’s not even being competitive.
No, Dallas may be
this bad. If the East wasn't so bad (they should get 4 wins against the Giants and Commanders), this could easily be an under .500 season.
*Still can't stop the run, DTs not proven (and D Law and Micah are not impactful enough on big plays)
*Secondary looks average at best with the safeties still not able to cover WRs downfield
*RBs are average, and that's being generous
*WRs as a unit are barely a threat given McCarthy's lackluster playcalling (and CeeDee is easily frustrated)
*The o-line is still questionable
*The QB is a solid leader with average abilities, so if he's not outsmarting the defense (and that's hard to do with McCarthy) then the Cowboys lose a decided offensive edge
Luckily Aubrey is a complete all-star, else this roster starts to look really suspect as constructed. Oh, wait a minute, a kicker isn't enough, so this roster IS suspect as currently constructed. "All in" meant paying 2 players, and they aren't enough for this team to be a real contender.
The Cowboys are overrated, even by the pundits. The Talking Heads all picked the Cowboys against the Saints, even though the Cowbous offense didn't really play all that well last week, and the defense faced a rusty QB with both of his OTs out and his star RB sidelined. The Saints looked better than the Cowboys in week 1, yet the Cowboys were 6-point favorites.
