When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about someone who is a "locker room cancer".

I'm glad that I was wrong, although being sick sucks too.

Because the flu shot protects people from all strains of the flu?... SMH

Flu shots are only about 20% effective. Your
body only needs its immune system. Unless you have an auto-immune disease.

Not to debate the effectiveness of flue shots, but they don't guarantee you won't get the flu. They limit the chances and the severity. I have never received a flu shot in my life and have worked at a hospital for the last 10 years and never gotten the flu.

No they don't guarantee but they lower risk, often substainly. You can go years without catching it without immunization but the one time you do catch it you'll be wishing like heck you didn't have it. Anything you can do to help avoid it is a huge plus

20%? Really. 50% is the estimate for years when the shot poorly matches what circulates in the year.

How can McClain or the team for that matter allow this to happen? You can snap your fingers and have your choice of meds from the nearest pharmacy in 15 minutes. To "not have medicine" is just crazy to me.

That doggone McClain...he's ruining this team. It just doesn't stop.

Last year it was completely ineffective.

And that's historically one of the worst performances of the vaccine recently. But honestly, if I get a shot that upped my odd of avoiding the flu or increased my ability to fight it off quickly, even 23℅ is valuable. The only reason it was less effective last year is because it mutated. That happens but not every year.

And BTW. 23℅ is clearly not completely ineffective. That's clearly an increase in flu avoidance for a tiny cost. A shot and $20 (if you have to pay at all). Any increase in immunity is worth that tiny cost.
