The people who want us to retain Garrett would be every other team and fan base so they can laugh at us for another x amount of years

Garret should have been taken out back and put down 5 years ago

My conflict is in regards to the "whole" of the organization:

I'll propose a few simple question to everybody:

WHO is the leader/boss of the Dallas Cowboys?

Jerry Jones?
Stephen Jones?
Jason Garrett?
Dak Prescott?
Someone else?

Could any coach on the face of the planet make this team thrive?

Can ANYBODY on this board answer the question? If the answer is anybody except for the head coach. Then I don't know if it would ever matter who the head coach is.

It's like the movie "Office Space". The guy makes one error and has to explain himself to 5 different bosses. So his only real motivation is not to get fired.

In my opinion there's too much conflict/noise for the Cowboys team to roll the way it should.

I was calling for a different FG kicker early in the season. When it was an obvious and extreme weakness (it's in my post history somewhere). Do you know how many games we would have won if we didn't wait so long to change a FG kicker?

At this point and time I’m doubtful that even Jason himself wants to be here.

I’d like to see who this “a lot” is. Jerry is an issue but we’ve had 10 yrs of nothing under JG. This was his worst job with who we had. So let’s see if someone else can bring out more in our dysfunctional system

thats plan B remember we have Jerry and Stephen choosing the new HC and plan..

if their plan was to force some of the old coordinators on the new hc or make them use the old schemes to not upset KM and Dak comfort zone...

why get a new HC just to run the same ole bs...

This is the beat time to let him go as the new HC would get to choose a new staff while so many players are up for new deals..

I think the job should be coveted given those facts as Dak and Amari , you ask the new HC for input during interviews..

dont they have like 20+ FAs coming up this year with some bigger names listed from RFA to NRFAs?

if you were going to change schemes , this would be the perfect time to pick the players that you keep or let go sand the ones you go after in the draft and FAs will be chosen to fit the new schemes on both sides of the ball..

the timing couldn't be better for new direction and change..

but my vote is no dont keep him..time for anew..

Lol, the only person that deep down wants to keep Garrett is Jerry Jones. But even he is coming to terms it's not a good idea.

Nobody has ever successfully defended Garrett. His supporters attack those critical of Garrett by:
A. Asserting that bad coaching is in effect, unprovable.
B. They blame the players and “execution” even though the roster has turned over 2 or 3 times during his tenure.
C. The Defense is the culprit, as if a good HC would have no role in addressing the failures of half of his team over the better part of a decade.
D. Jerry is to blame, but his long tenured and highly enriched coach has no culpability.
E. You can’t judge a coach by his playoff performances (one of my favorites). This same person suggested that Garrett was victimized by the vagaries of turnovers in the playoffs, as if a coach had no responsibility for that highly practiced element of the game. Moreover, the Cowboys have a positive turnover ratio in the playoffs under Jason.

The newest iteration of indirect support for Jason can be found in the “Jason isn’t leaving so detractors might as well find other teams to root for” trope.

It’s time for a change, but in Garrett’s defense, I don’t think any coach can succeed here with this type of organizational structure. I don’t know why Garrett would even want to stay here.
Jerry Jones makes it impossible to be successful here and that will only change when he is gone.

Garrett made 6M per year with very little responsibility of expectations.........just look the role is all that was ever asked of him.
