Ken Hamlin sucks.

Get over it theo.

Stop using your garbage "targeted" stats when talking about a safety.

Completely irrelevant and skewed.

Typical. The stats work in your favor when you're touting your favorite players in your signature, but when someone else points them out against you its "completely irrelevant and skewed."

And you wonder why I pick on you when you post such nonsensical statements. :laugh1:

Yeah, screw those coverage statistics when talking about how a player is in coverage.

What was I thinking?

Well come on. When he's lining up 20 yards from the line of scrimmage and he's responsible for the deep half of the field, how many times do you THINK he's going to be targeted.

Or how about Jenkins and Newman actually shutting down recievers?

Or how about a really good pass rush not allowing the QB to throw deep.

There's so many variables that make him look better than he actually is.

Hence him having "no targets" on the stat sheet. Good thing I have two eyes to see how trashy his playmaking and tackling is.

Okay, Bob. Pigeonhole my point with technicalities if it makes you feel better.

I'm just pointing out that our defense allowed less points because our secondary as a whole improved exponentially.

What's funny is you actually think he lines up 20 yards deep every play.

Honestly, you haven't a clue where he lines up because you don't actually watch the secondary or know what to watch for.

nobody shuts down opponents passing attacks like Ken "primetime" Hamlin. Jenkins should just give up his #21 jersey to Primetime Hamlin right now.

Okay.15 yards.

You really have no idea what Hamlin does.

Can't tackle(Brandon Marshall/Muhsin Muhammad/Cadillac Williams all say hi). Takes poor routes on tackling. Can't blitz. Can't make plays. Can't get passes defended.

Ya I know what he does.

Seriously, theo. How come every time we see a pass into Hamlin's area, he's always running towards it?

How come he has about 1/4 of the missed tackles as your boy Rolle?

Oh, wait, stats are "irrelevant".

:lmao2:

I could try to explain a coverage to you in a specific play, but I'm not sure you'd even understand it if I did.

:laugh2:Don't deflect.

Answer the question. Hamlin is never asked to trail a receiver in coverage. Never. His responsibility is to keep the play in front of him. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it.

Ya and guess what.

It doesn't count as a targetz!

But in reality he's playing so far back he gives a bunch of underneath routes up.

Just one of the many reason it's so skewed.

What's funny is that you don't even get the inconsistency in your argument. If you think his coverage responsibilities are the reason he's not targeted much, you have to grant that his coverage responsibilities are the reason doesn't have many INTs. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

This probably never even occurred to you.

I'm sorry, but this doesnt make any sense.

Most safeties dont get their ints when guarding people man to man. In fact most interceptions in general come from playing zone defense (according to coaches). Hamlin doesnt usually (hardly ever in fact) have a single player to account for. He's back there to provide help over the top (of which he's late for quite a bit) or to essentially play centerfield. When you take into account how effective our pass rush is and how good our CB's are, it isnt that hard to see that he is pretty mediocre when it comes to making plays. And it isnt one yr, its most of his career and the past 2+ seasons here.

There's just no defense IMO for how mediocre he's been at it. If we had no pass rush or extremely weak CB's, maybe you'd have more of a legit argument.

But let's look at the numbers for Atogwe, Rolle and Hamlin since 2006. It's not exactly apples to apples because Rolle was a cornerback for Arizona in 2006-07 before moving to safety, but ...

Hamlin - 4.7 tackles per game, 3 sacks, 9 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles
Rolle - 4.9 tackles per game, 1.5 sacks, 11 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles
Atogwe - 5.1 tackles per game, 2 sacks, 18 interceptions, 14 forced fumbles

Atogwe turns 29 in June. Hamlin is 29; Rolle 27
