Sensabaugh to FS?

Not necessarily more important, but it probably takes a better overall player.

The free safety has to be a heady player, though, one who understands the coverage, can read the offense and knows where he needs to be. Because we use essentially a single safety deep system, he has pressure on him to make the right choice and not let us get beat deep.
Yeah Taylor Mays is the last person I'd want back there.

Taylor Mays would be perfect than!

I think Mays would possibly be more suited to strong safety than free safety in our system. I don't know about his man coverage skills, but he's got the speed and run support abilities to fit that role.

I know you were just joking, but if we selected him, I would think we'd have the SS role in mind, where he has to do less thinking and just rely more on his physical skills.

Of course, I'm not sure he has the ability or hips to turn and run with WRs and TEs, despite his straight-line speed.

Am I the only person on this internet-web-forum who thinks that Sensabaugh is simply average in coverage?

I think he was ok, maybe a little above average. Its hard to say for certain how good or bad he was though because he played handicapped most of the year. I know he missed a couple or three gimmee picks because of the cast.

I need to see more of him to make a real decision. I definitely wouldnt pay him huge bucks on a long term deal yet though.

Good points guys, but we still have a question mark at FS.

We can just go "in house" with Ball or M. Hamlin and hope for the best, like we're doing with Doug Free apparently. We could also draft a FS and bring him up to speed, but I doubt Wade lets a rookie start right away. He normally doesn't want that, unless injuries force the situation. I'd have to go with Ball over M. Hamlin as our new FS, even though a 186lb safety is certainly not ideal.

I hope Atogwe is one of our contingency plans.

Ball filled in fine when Hamlin went down so I am not worried about Ball starting and if all we do is draft a guy later rounds then i am comfortable with Ball starting at FS
