What is Long? I know he was the highest rated lineman in the league early in the season.

They have long at the 39th ranked guard (out of 72 players) with the following stats:
  • 2 sacks allowed
  • 2 QB hits allowed
  • 15 QB hurries allowed

He's still doing okay but he must have dropped off. I remember he was making headlines during the preseason and early in the season.

Is his ceiling as high as Tyron Smith? Certainly not, but an off-season should help him get a little stronger - he's looks like there is still some work to be done on moving fat to muscle. Also, given his smarts, he is going to benefit greatly from the game experience - particularly as he gets more familiar with the NFC East opponents.

But really what is going to benefit him the most is having a good G on both sides.

I'm not sure that eventually Fred won't be rated as a lot more dominant at his position than Smith is at his. I'm glad we have Smith, and he is still young, but I wouldn't use the term dominant to describe him (although he has been much more than serviceable). I think for Smith to climb to elite status he has to get stronger and more dominant against power rushers.

So are we going to hear this for the rest of our lives? On who we should've picked? Is it going to take Escobar being a Pro Bowler to stop hearing about that? Probably wouldn't even matter. Might have to be a perennial 1st teamer to stop people from mentioning it.

unfortunately, yes. some people are just draft-constipated and refuse to just let it out and move on.
