As one of the nicer members of the 'Zone, you didn't deserve that.

In a parallel world, picture this man being tarred and feathered as punishment.
In public. As is family cries in shame. While his young daughters turn away
each wearing a fresh, new Joe Burrow jersey!... lol/jk

Good topic. Fair point.
Thanks, that reply to my OP did seem over the top and overly critical.
If you don't like a post just skip over it.
No need to come in and spew venom,
And spoil it for others.

I am 40 so young enough to have suffered but old enough to have enjoyed the 90s (was 10 in 1992 so got to see all 3 superbowls during my most impressionable years).

In my 20's i was a maniac about the team...wouldnt dream of missing a second of a game, got crazy, screamed, yelled, ripped off jerseys, etc....if they loss i wouldnt be approachable for days, cried after the Divisonal lost to the GIants in 2007,

In my early 30's i started softening and not taking it as seriously mostly because it wasn't sustainable and other things started being a lot more important.

When i had kids at 32, i decided i wanted them to watch with me so i started changing the way i watched games to make it more fun for them (i ruined football for my wife in my 20s).

As my kids have grown some (2,6 & 8) i have made the games about "fun football food" and having fun with daddy in the basement. For the playoffs we did "playoff parties" where we pick out fun food, wear our jerseys out, put flags on the car, daughter bakes something and we just focus on the family aspect....

I want my kids to enjoy watching with me so that its a fun expereince and something they enjoy as they get older...i have so many fond memories from my youth that i want them to have the same.
I enjoyed this post a lot. Thank you.

This is a hilariously stupid take

He just mentioned he became a fan as a kid and has remained a fan for 40+ years.

You're essentially calling a child's decision "front runner" behavior.
It is front runner behavior. I always liked the Eagles because I‘m from the Philly area but they sucked growing up. I started cheering for Denver because of Elway, that front runner behavior, nothing wrong with it but it is what it is.

I started following the Cowboys in 2001 when I moved to the Dallas area. I loved Dallas, I loved Texas, I love the Cowboys. Unfortunately I lost my dad in 2021 and moved to the Atlanta area to help my mom of 85. But I still follow the Cowboys as best I can. I cant imagine supporting another team. To paraphrase an old saying, you can take the man out of Texas but you can’t take Texas out of the man.
