Seriously Doubt [any team] Gives A Fourth For Beck..

I think you are right. And I know he'd be long gone.
And then if he develops we'd hear forever how we should have traded for him instead of gambling that no one would pick him up if he were waived.

With my luck, Miami will lose a QB to injury when they play this week and all of this becomes a moot point.

The question is how good (potentially) is he really? You could spend a 4th on him and he could end up being a complete bust. I really don't know anything about him. I must abstain from making what I believe to be a fiar offer as I don't have any idea what would be fair to us or them. From what I heard, Miami taking him in the second around was not a good pick.

Every player can end up being a complete bust. You have to roll the dice sometimes.

Beck was considered to be the #3 QB of the 2007 Draft class by most teams. He played on an absolutely horrible Dolphins team, and in limited time was not horrible. I wanted us to draft him but he flew up draft boards because of his accuracy.

Bill Parcells did not like him, and never has. I have a mutual friend with John beck named Jared. Jared has told me that John has always felt Parcells does not like him. I've asked for a clarification of that, and that is all Beck ever says. Perhaps has to do with his height. I don't know really.

Beck went to HS here in Arizona at Mesa Mountain View and was a top notch HS QB who was highly recruited. BYU has always had a good history with QBs. Not all them are starting caliber QBs, but we're in need of a backup not a starter, so I don't understand why it isn't worth the risk.

No guts, no glory.

I wouldn't give you two ham sandwiches for him.

Or we could keep that 4th and continue our trend of trading back because there isn't anyone there worth taking with that pick.

And thus lose out on the John David Booty's we targeted in the first place.

I didn't like Booty and can't say I was disappointed when we missed him.

I'd give them our second round pick. We'd just draft a bust with it anyway. In fact, we should trade our second round pick for nothing just to save on the cap hit down the line.

Wow Hostile, that is pretty harsh. He will do better than Grossman.

Whom I wouldn't give you 1 ham sandwich for.

The Bears are starving to death for a QB.

Why wouldn't they go after Beck then? :laugh2:

It's different situations.

We need a backup to groom to one day replace Johnson.

They need a starter. I don't see the parallel.

Of course the Fins may be shopping McCown as well -- he likely would be the best QB in that stable of crap

I'd take McCown over Beck. As much as I don't like Simms, I'd take Simms over Beck as well.

I do. The Bears need a QB, we need a QB. Orton has been declared the Bears starter, Romo has been declared the Cowboys starter. The only difference is Romo will be the starter next year, the Bears have no idea who will be their starter next year. Why not Beck if he was touted as the third best QB in the draft.

I don't like Simms. Maybe he would be ok, but I think he has a mental block to his game. He needs to get through it.

They are three different guys.

Beck is a developmental guy. McCown isn't developing anymore but he's a guy who could give you a string of average games if need be. Simms is a bit in the middle of the two.

The difference here is that if we get Beck or maybe Simms, Johnson stays. We get McCown and Johnson is cut.
