All that revenge stuff goes out the window the moment the game starts - this is just rah rah stuff. Execution and gameplan is all that matters once they get on the field.
Agreed but, if it sharpens focus and preparation during the week, it has real benefit.

McCarthy working his work week magic getting the players minds right.

There's a chance this is over by halftime.

Glad to hear that Big Mike kept harping on how they got big boyed last year! Throughout the entire organization, they heard him stress it. Good stuff Big Mike!

Now, as for the team, go out and do something about it. Play smart, mistake free football and match their physicality.

I believe it about Mike. Jerry said when they were on the clock to draft Ridgeway, he asked Mike if he was sure we needed another big guy at DT with just drafting Bohanna the year before for a similar role and Mike said, "Remember the playoff game. We'll play both. We can't have enough big guys up front."

So he knows they got pushed around and he doesn't want it to happen again.

I wonder how true that, because if it is then was pretty dumb to release Ridgeway especially when they could've released someone like Hill.

I remember hearing about getting revenge against Tampa in the opener this season as payback for their win in the opener in 2021. That didn’t go so well. The Cowboys just need to focus on winning the game.

These are pro athletes getting paid millions of dollars; if you think revenge is what will get them over the top, or make them more focused..,i guess you can think that. This ain't Al Bundy at Polk High. But preparation and execution as well as aggression will be the biggest factors in determining who controls the LOS. Revenge goes out the door once you get smacked by your opponent or you smack your opponent. Set the tone for the rest of the game.

The mental aspect is a big part of the game. Heart matters, and sometimes you meet an opponent who simply wants it more. Let's not exaggerate and pretend talent and execution aren't important. I'm not saying that at all. My point is, the mental part isn't insignificant.

Disappointed they didn't keep him and develop him. They need more than Hankins. Gallimore and Bohanna will need to be active. Which makes the possible need for two kickers on gameday frustrating...

Unlike last year the boys are getting mentally prepped for a tough tough fight.

Everyone talks about how we are soft and can't respond once we're hit in the mouth.

Then at the same time, people say the psychological aspect of the game is important. Seems like a double standard to me.

If nothing else that extra bit of desire may increase focus and push some guys towards a couple extra reps etc.

Like trying to play in the Super Bowl isn't enough motivation?

It doesn't matter who, why or how a team is blocking their path, destroy them!

Bobby Belt on the radio - McCarthy leaned into 49ers playoff loss. Brought it up consistently throughout offseason, training camp, regular season, team meetings, etc.

Mike Fisher on Youtube - McCarthy made sure every one in organization top to bottom knew we got "big boyed" last year.

Jon Machota on Media Mash - Players are licking their chops for this rematch.

Nate Netwon on DC.com - Likes the vibe he's getting in the building this week.

Just some interesting tidbits I've seen in the media the last few days.
Its smart. As a head coach you have to lean on something. 49ers are a better team and have a better record. Less rest and on the road.

They got embarassed last year. Gotta lean on the revenge factor. I like it.

I'm hoping the revenge angle keeps them focused in practice and not getting too high on themselves. We tend to play better when no one gives us s chance. I'm glad we're the underdogs. When we think we're going to win we play at the level of the competition. If we have a chip on our shoulder we play better.
