Well, he only averaged 5.1 ypc..so he must be a bum and can't stay healthy.

Some of these posters around here are so out of touch with this game it pathetic! They would not last one day at OTA's, much less training camp! But, they can sure tell you what is wrong with a guy sitting out. smh

None of us would last one day at ota's or training camp, Including you but what does that have to do with anything? Btw Lance Dunbar averaged 5.0 a carry what does that mean, I never said that Murray was a bum but when someone insinuated that he was with Dez and their injury issues were in the past I pointed out that he missed games last year.

You, like many, have a fundamental misunderstanding of leadership.

I think I would prefer the 'leadership' of a HOF coach who took 4 separate franchises to the playoffs, won 2 SBs, and whose players followed him from team to team like pit bulls to the guy who was given a franchise QB and managed to go three straight seasons at .500 and never even made the post-season. Even in a division as horrible as this one.

You know nothing about Parcells if you don't understand that he had zero tolerance for guys like Mo, but the players like Witten - the one's who only cared about being better on the football field - loved him to death. Heck, even Terry Glenn, who Parcells publicly dissed with the "she" comment, was more than happy to be reunited with him here.

Whatever you may or may not understand about leadership, I don't think you understood Parcells very well. Or his players.

That quote sounds like something Parcells would say to the media as a message to the player.

That is not JG's style, I think they would just tell them behind closed doors, and not go through the media. I sure there is much more they say to the players, but just don't need to tell the media or fans about it.
And we know how the media would run with it, if something like that was said here.

Seems our way is working

I think Jason Garrett means it more as if you don't get the reps, you won't be prepared. Parcells was just a jerk about it, and that makes some guys around here moist, but Garrett's a better motivator and leader than Parcells, in my opinion.

Im sorry. Is there anything tangible or intangible that formed your opinion?

I remember when Parcels forced that OG (Peterman) to go back in the game despite having injured his knee. He blew it out on the next play and was done for the season.

So his methods were abject failures based on Stephen Peterman?

There are a couple of things involved here.

First is individual pride. It takes that to commit all out to committing and then sacrificing.

To maximize individual pride, there has to be good leadership that waters those roots specificly.

This Cowboys team has never quit or given up, no matter game conditions, on Jason Garrett.

I therefore, must surmise that Jason Garrett is additionally a good motivator.

Rewatch the NO 2013 game

(coughing loudly) You do understand that you are attempting to explain leadership to a Captain who has both passed Law School and West Point. Not to mention a position in Afghanistan.

There are three types of leadership. The directive, the eclectic, and the combined. Directive commands every action to the last detail, eliminating aspects of initiative and individual development. The eclectic allows the individual to base many actions upon his own choices and monitors more of the results. The combined uses a combination of the two depending upon situations and needs.

Directive is much harder to sell and often leaves an antagonism with those handled in this manner. Much depends on the degree on the line with each successive direction.

The thing that one learns about leadership and styles, is they all can be effective...but depends upon the response they get from the person.

Jason is articulate, liked, and his players are loyal...and based upon player loyalties, just as good a leader as was Bill Parcells. But closer to the current era of play, as is Garrett, he really wasn't that far apart as to effectiveness.

Ever coach an NFL team where your privates were making ten times more money than you do?

Not sure the relevance, but thanks for your service.

Thank you Sir, but you miss the point, the people and mission are most important...pay takes care of itself. If I would have wanted to be in it for the pay, I would have retired an Officer over 30 years ago, and financially a lot better off now. There are other decisions in one's life...

You're making that jump in conclusion, not me. I'm just pointing out that he did something that seemed stupid at the time.

Yeah and it was also Parcells who said that he wanted his injured players to be put through harder workouts when they're injured, that they preferred to be out there practicing. He was also the one who wanted the training room to be uncomfortable, and had the place freezing.

In the old days coaches would deprive players of water as a punishment or use it as a reward. Old school methods are not always better.

Yeah, the Cowboys are the only team that sits out starters during preseason! I guess the Saints are going to suck this season. smh But, nooooo! Romo needs all the playing time he can get because he will be rusty if he does not play at least 2 qtrs, or Mo will suck because he is not playing, or, or, or....!

Quarterback Drew Brees was the most prominent of 17 New Orleans Saints players who are not dressed out for warmups and unlikely to play in the team's preseason game against the Tennessee Titans Friday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

In addition to Brees, receiver Marques Colston, cornerback Patrick Robinson, cornerback Champ Bailey, safety Jairus Byrd, cornerback Terrence Frederick, cornerback Rod Sweeting, safety Ty Zimmerman, linebacker David Hawthorne, guard Ben Grubbs, guard Jahri Evans, offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe, tight end Je'Ron Hamm, fullback Erik Lorig, defensive tackle John Jenkinsand outside linebacker Victor Butler were not spotted in warmups prior to the game. Wide receiver Kenny Stills warmed up with Brees early in warmups, but wasn't dressed out.

Brees is playing.
