I give it a week more of futility, two at most. We should be mathematically out of it by then and they can stop with the charade.

I don't know why people want to see Moore so much. I would give him about a quarter and people are clawing their eyes out wondering why he is even in the league. Even his preseason games looked pedestrian.

When is a #1 EVER not a good thing? I am trying to understand what you're saying but it makes no sense to me.

Just because this team isn't really a 3-13 club when healthy, doesn't mean they couldn't benefit tremendously from a very high draft pick.

Edit: are you simply advocating a trade down? Because it reads kind of confusing.

Yeah maybe its convoluted logic I'm using, but here goes. Since 2012, there hasn't been a consensus #1 pick. I don't consider Clowney anything but a freak, a lot of teams were afraid of exactly how he's turned out. The last 3 teams have looked at trading down from #1 but haven't been able to, so went with who they thought was their guy, and it hasn't worked out for any of them except maybe Winston. Yet last year I don't think (could be wrong) anyone was in a panic, because since there were 2 QB's there was a possibility to trade up and grab the second when the first was off the board. Much more optionality at #2 -5 to trade OR get value for your pick.

The #1 pick this year will most likely be a QB, and its looking like a 2 horse race. So no one will want to give up a kings ransom unless one of these guys turns into Andrew Luck by the draft (I'm betting they won't).

I'm basing all of this on the fact that we won't take a QB in the first (to sit on the bench for 3 years of a 4 year deal isn't much value) so we would have to pick the best player otherwise to help the aging Romo right now. I'm not saying #1 is a BAD place to be, I just think we get more value and optionality from a non-QB at a slightly lower pick.

If we pick #1 then we take Joey Bosa. He is the best player in this draft by a sizable margin. You take him and never look back.

Not happening. They think they're still in it. They aren't about to start a rookie at RT without even a training camp under his belt.

Well hopefully after they lose next week the reality sets in that they are in fact out of it. Thats why I said this week or next. They still think theres some magical unicorn ride about to happen to save this season.

No, ideally we would get one of the top 3 defensive players (looking like DE and 2 DBs). But if not, we can get a significant pick from a trade. Maybe I'm wrong and Paxton Lynch becomes coveted and someone will give a ton for #1, but it hasn't happened recently.

Joey Bosa is the #1 defensive player, the #1 defensive end and the #1 overall talent in the draft.

What if Moore comes in and magically wins all his games and looks great? No, this isn't Floaty here, but it could happen. Then we will all be pissed he wasn't playing the whole season!

Mostly because he's not Weeden or Cassel. He hasn't proven himself to be a failure yet as a Cowboy.

Add to that a general feeling of "how much worse can things get?" And you have my thoughts on it.

If he gets the last two or three games and stinks up the place? At least we'll know for sure that he shouldn't be around for next year.

I'm not sure that's set in stone. I'm not going 3-13 for Lattimer from the Program. We'll just have to disagree, but if our front office agrees with you, then they can lose out and tell me to stick my strategy in the mud.

What part are you in disagreement with?

Chaz Green is not replacing Free this year - get that out of your head right now. This is merely a look for next year. By practicing and maybe getting a few reps over the next 5 weeks, the coaches will know if he is at least in the thought process for Free EVENTUAL replacement. For all the reason other posters have mentioned he is not on the roster as Free's replacement this year ... But, I am very happy they have bought him up.

The only good defensive player taken in the last 20 years at #1 was mario williams, and he wasn't even that great.

So I don't want #1 (and a dumpster fire 3-13 season) unless we were taking a QB, which bc of Jerry we won't. Seems like you want #1 bc we can get Bosa guaranteed, so therein we disagree.
