Sewell vs Parsons

I was on Parsons from the beginning because of one reason, run stopping. He was a tackling fool at Penn St, setting the freshman record and then the soph record having started only one game. I did not consider the pass rush part of it because he was such a force along the line against the run and that was the Big 10 after all.

They could have done as well with Surtain because him on one corner and Diggs on the other would have been the shutdown tandem in the league.

Picking at where they picked, hard to come up snake eyes.

You talk about both their talent, but the ones that separate the good ones from the great ones are guys that work. They work, & both Sewell & Parsons work. They work their craft, they’ll stay after practice, they both do those things.

Any time you’re a guy like that, the sky’s the limit for both. Only difference, Parsons is a machine coming off the edge.
I was one of the most goal posters on the boards about Parsons being a top target. Thought Sewell was a stud but didn’t think he’d fall.

Both great ascending players and should be a fun matchup. I’m sure both will win reps.
You a Penn Stater?

Slater was the guy when we were on the clock that was in the debate

After Surtain, Micah was my guy, and I'm glad Surtain wasn't on the board. Sewell looked like a nice player, and I'm sure he would help on this line, but I like Tyler Smith so much more and have no doubt that the team knocked the last two picks out of the park.

Haven't watched any tape on Sewell since the draft, but from what I understand, the Lions OL is pretty strong this year. The team is coming off of a loss but did manage to harass Hurts and despite popular opinion, held the best offense in the league relatively in check. I think they'll be out for blood this week and Goff is going to have a really long day face down, on the turf.

Parsons made the Giants #1 draft pick look pretty bad when they played. The thing about Parsons is OTs don't see someone like him every day. It is like a college player who plays in the NFL for the first time. It takes time adjusting to the speed. If Parsons is healthy I think he will give Sewell some problems rushing the passer. I am worried about Sewell on Micah in the run game. The Lions average 5.4 yards per carry on the ground. This worries me a lot because if the Lions have success running they can eat up the clock, wear down the defense and keep the game close. The Cowboys want to get out on top early and take away the running game.

Lane Johnson held him sackless the 1st half and jack driscoll held him sackless mostly without help.
Getting a sack is hard when both sides are professionals. Philly got the ball out quickly and game planned for Parsons. Of course that will limit his sacks. Go back and rewatch the game. Even Johnson seldom stonewalled Parsons. He slowed him down but the ball came out quickly. If Hurts held the ball in the pocket he would have gotten there on a bunch of occasions. If you think Driscoll didn’t get help we remember the game differently.

Honestly, I wanted Pitts, Surtain or Sewell. I really didn't know that much about Parsons. But I knew after OL, we needed to address the linebacking corp. I didn't think Clear Eye and LVE were going to cut it as linebackers.

I thought Surtain was the most NFL ready and had the pedigree.

After we drafted Parsons, I was on board because of our need at that position. I never envisioned he would be the "War Daddy" Jerry often talked about acquiring.
It's like he fell into our laps.

My only concern about Parson was if he would succumb to the Cowboys cupcake culture. So far, so good. Seems like he's instituting a new culture.

I also remember Cowboys fans bemoaning that we didn't trade with the Bears to get their No. 1 for 2021 and 2022. It's good that we didn't.

I remember the countless discussions prior to last year's draft, how Sewell was a generational talent and should be the Cowboys #1 player on their board. Nobody said that about Parsons and many thought Slater was a guard only. Sewell has been solid, but the other two were legit pro bowl players in their rookie seasons. What does everyone think about the matchup this weekend?

- It wasn't Sewell vs Parsons, the Cowboys media niks were talking about on NFL Draft day.

- It was the 2 CBs the Cowboys supposedly thought the world of in Horn and Surtain Jr. .

-Carolina and Denver snagged those two before the Cowboys pick (didn't help that the whole world knew we coveted the two CBs)

- Irony ? the Cowboys actually traded down two slots because they felt so confident no two teams NYG or Phily wanted Parsons

i think Parsons current groin injury is slowing him down more than what is being let on ... but at least we still have him in some kind of capacity

I was basically the president of the Kyle Pitts fan club before that draft.
But glad he didn't fall to us now or we would've taken him.
I loved Chase, Sewell, Slater and the 2 CB.

I disliked Micah, Pitts and DeVonta Smith.

I was clearly an idiot with zero vision over Micah but got the rest pretty much correct. --viewed Micah as Jaylon Smith replacement not DeMarcus Ware jr.
I was pro Tackles, Sewell and Slater. Anti Corner Horn and Surtain. Parson's was my choice if they went defense (saw a highlight video on youtube and he just jumped out as special)
Pretty much every top 15 pick from the 2021 draft is coming through\ playing up to their evaluations and prediction. (Feel free to provide updates on any that have underperformed, or been injured.)
Probably all the teams + plus their fans are generally satisfied with the chosen players.

right go away eagle troll, parson has a pulled groin was playing about 75%

while you game planned to keep away from Parsons actually ran away on sprint RPOs and many plays when too the other side we GOT FOUR sacks anyway. That why Parsons is still a factor when his stat line is not impressive, work hard to gameplan him and our other guys eat! im betting old Lane got hurt trying to keep up with parsons., got bit ny that lion. ;))

it wasn't even that. Hurts didnt attempt a pass over 10 yards. everything was short and quick. its almost impossible to sack anyone, let alone pressure someone who is throwing short slants

i'm thinking the line up Parsons on the opposite side from hearing MM this week and saying he needs to self scout and get Parsons more opps to be great

I didn't like parsons coming out of the draft, but I loved devonta smith. Right now now parsons is the better player. Driscoll got beat by parsons on several occasions, I remember thinking he needs help, guess that's why I didn't think he got much help, but I didn't focus on that match-up everytime. Lane was the better player this game.

btw you guys need to start calling micah parsons bum rush for what he did to that guy in penn state and how he is rushing the passer right now...guy is a straight bully
