Sewell vs Parsons

I was basically the president of the Kyle Pitts fan club before that draft.
But glad he didn't fall to us now or we would've taken him.
Hey don't feel bad, I was all in on Pitts too. Glad we didn't get him.

Sewell will make the pro bowl this year and be an all pro soon.

As for Micah, we’re blessed. None of us expected him to be this good and I even had him in some of my mocks to the Cowboys.

Tyler has been a grand slam pick. To think we found our next great LT with that late a pick is incredible.
We must be watching different things. He’s had flashes but overall his play hasn’t been good for a starting LT. He’s been good if you grade him on a “raw rookie from a small school” curve.

I remember the countless discussions prior to last year's draft, how Sewell was a generational talent and should be the Cowboys #1 player on their board. Nobody said that about Parsons and many thought Slater was a guard only. Sewell has been solid, but the other two were legit pro bowl players in their rookie seasons. What does everyone think about the matchup this weekend?
Think we were blessed to get Parsons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

who the heckdom is Sewell? does he have a first name or is he a white soul folk singer?
Dunno who Sewell is.
Parsons is Pro Bowler.

LOL Parsons was regarded as the best defensive player coming out of the draft hands down. I'm actually glad that he dropped to us and knew the impact he was going to have with our team.

I was in the Micah fan club after the Cotten Bowl years ago. I knew they would not take Sewell because of Tyron.

Could you have imagined had Parsons gone too NY?

I don't think that Parsons was high on their list. Otherwise they wouldn't have traded out ahead of us.

I posted many threads about parsons pre draft. Posted even more about not drafting pitts. Can’t say there wasn’t dialogue out there.
I'm not disputing that there was no dialogue. I'm just saying I wasn't aware of him as I didn't follow his college career. I knew of Sewell because a lot of smoke surrounded him and Pitts because he played in the SEC and was teammates with a kid who played with my son in high school.
But I didn't know much about Parsons, maybe because he sat out a year.

Lool, why are folks acting like Pitts is a bust?

Dude quietly had 68 receptions, 1,026 yards, 15.1 YPC as a rookie.

Now he’s playing with Mariotta.

They still were going to take one of those corners if they fell.

It’s not so much Sewell vs 11 today , Tank will be up against him most of the time . Sewell is a solid RT and I think if your drafting a OT that high in the draft you sure want a LT . Slater is that type when healthy protect Herbert’s blind side .

In back to back drafts the Lions have gone OT and Edge round one with the new GM/ Coach combo , building the right way up front . Campbell got a 6 yr deal the GM 5 . Long haul rebuild .

Yep, must be watching different things. The kid has been amazing considering he didnt practice it all of TC. And considering he is a rookie he has been amazing. Run blocking great, still needs to work on some pass rush stuff. Going up against the best the NFL has to offer. I project him to be a pro bowl type LT for years to come.

And Hockensen the TE a former first round previous regime is excellent . Watch him catch a few passes today .

Are you talking T Smith . Yes he’s been everything I could have hoped for so far . Sewell anchors the RT spot Detroit . From what I’ve heard he’s been what they wanted .

Right now Parsons is a much more impactful player. If you zoom out on the graph, longer term, Slater will possibly prove to be the better player, simply due to a likelihood of more longevity at his position.

A really wise team probably plays Parsons for four years and trades him for a boatload of picks and/or players. Whatever you trade Parsons for will look like a mistake in the short run. He is that good. But longer term the picks will be the better deal.

If Parsons gets hurt (knees) or anything that affects his speed, he will not be what he once was. OTs play forever if they have skill and talent.
