Shaking up the D line & Changes at LB

Jim Scott: I think Maliek Collins is better than we thought. Basically no training camp, but he's producing already. Also bear in mind that we think of him as a third-rounder, but the Cowboys got him very near where they got Randy Gregory.

I've been high on this kid since the draft.

On another note, we spent what 17 million on Mawoya and Thornton and they aren't even starting now??? Way to go McClay!!!

Glad to see Hitchens is being drummed down the depth chart.

He has been barely mediocre and sometimes awful since his rookie season.

Pinch starter at best. Defense is in trouble if we have to rely on him more than that. He could probably have good career if he accepts that he can be decent backup LB and not push to start somewhere.

The kid looked like a good value draft pick and then broke his foot in May... He's apparently shown more than one would expect for a rookie who missed most of training camp.

Most draft resources had him as a reach.

I'll give Mawoya a little bit of a pass because he did miss most of training camp and it's not like he's had a lot of snaps in the NFL as a 4-3 DE.

Thornton will come around. He played well for Philly and I thought what snaps he had in preseason, were encouraging. In addition T McClain has been a quality player when he hasn't been injured... So it's not like Thornton was competing against the Golden Cock.

Less than "middle money" for Thornton. His cap "hit" this season is only 2.25 mil which is barely more than what Sanchez is getting.

i didn't say he was expensive. i probably shouldn't have said a lot of money either. it's would be a little disconcerting if our three highest-paid dlinemen (crawford, thornton, mayowa) were all backups.

yes he will be the starting under tackle and move around in nickel and dime situations. I bet when the ends are back jack crawford gets some snaps at the under tackle in nickel and dime sets also.

I want to see ALOT more of DAVID IRVING. Support the other changes, but need to see more reps from David Irving.

They been playing Irving at the wrong spot. He doesn't belong at DE. All the plays that he had made last year were from the DT position. Put him there!

I can see why philly didn't care to have him back. They're backups are better than our starters lol.

I like what he is doing, T.Crawford # 285 and J.Crawford # 288 give us pretty big guys on the edge, with the little guys coming in to spell them. Who's the backup behind Collins ? Irving ? At # 273 he's gonna have the same problem that Crawford has - too light in the britches.
This should be a good run stuffing line up, well the best we can hope for at least until Lawrence gets back.
All of a sudden with Davis and Lawrence here soon, we have the "Waves " that Marinelli wants at DE, but now we look thin at DT ! Still, I look forward to seeing how this all plays out on Sunday ...

They normally have a 3 man rotation at DT with a 4th guy just getting a few snaps. It will be Collins, McClain and Thorton as the top 3.
