Twitter: Sham: Romo's overthrow to TWill was different route...Romo vid Post #79

Good on Romo but I wonder if Williams was looking at Romo saying man we had them! And Romo comes back saying we will get them next time. I don't think it's what Holley was suggesting. Williams doesn't strike me as that kinda kid. After what Holley said last week about Dez running the wrong route and now this. I'm not sure I will believe anything that comes out of his mouth. He was wrong last week.

Ddid you see the part of the game where Romo threw the ball to Dez and they missed the connection. Dez began jumping up and down and Babe brought up the fact that this is still a hang over of immaturity. He said "don't show up your quarterback."

I think the young guys have a tendency to get excited and gesture while on the field when they miss with Romo. For what ever reason. I think this is what both stations were eluding to.

Not bad player, but young mind.

They were talking on another channel and had Jesse Holley there and he read Romo's lips when Williams came back to the huddle. Evidently Williams was staring down Romo suggesting, "get me the ball."

Romo squared him away by saying don't stare at me, just come back to the huddle.

Wrong route? I'm not buying it, Brad.

I can't stand Ben & Skin w/ Jesse Holley. Brad Sham came on today and tore Ben a new one.

I would say thats more of competitiveness than immaturity.

On that play, Romo threw to Williams.

What channel was Jesse on? Local?

Romo has overthrown that exact same route 10+ plus times the last three seasons, I wonder if they were all "wrong"!

Brad is terrible

Holley is 29 and not playing in the NFL. He was signed by a CFL team and didn't play for them in a real game. He won a spot in the Cowboys' camp on a reality show. He caught his first pass in a regular season game two years ago.

Forgive me if I don't take his analysis as scripture.

There was a play he threw to Dez as well that they missed the connection.

The play when Dez was jumping up and down was a pass to Williams. I don't remember a pass to Bryant where they didn't connect. What time in the game was that? I'd like to see it again if it happened.

On the flipside, Babe Laughenberg was a bust as a QB, but his analysis on the Cowboys ranks up there with the gold standard for many people. These guys gotta start somewhere, I wouldn't hold Jesse's lack of on-field success against him...at least not right now.

I think Romo over threw him on the play personally. The thing is, they will get their timing down as time goes on. Remember it took a while for Romo and Dez to get on the same page. And Romo and Roy Williams were never on the same page.

No big deal. I thought Romo was just trying to get his timing down with Williams and misfired.
You'd expect a quarterback to overthrow a green receiver. They aren't on the same page yet.
Again, no biggy.

Orton threw one way over Williams head - I don't know why, though.

I'm still trying to figure out what route Williams was supposed to run on a man free blitz?

hint: you don't run inside routes...

It appeared to me that Romo overthrew the go route completely.

That's totally fair, but he pulled that "I've played football, so I know" last week. Sure, he's played some football at a high level, but his resume doesn't really back up that arrogance. Especially when he was later contradicted by people who played more than one season.

I'm at work so this will be after 6am before I can see the DVR. You may be right. I recall Babe being pretty emphatic that Dez still has work to do. But then that may have been the fumble as well.

ok so what was the route SUPPOSED to be? looked to me like Williams was running a go route down the sideline and Romo was expecting a go route and overthrew it

it's not as if he was supposed to run a comeback and Romo threw it short in anticipation.. sounds like damage control to me

The play did look a little odd. Williams didn't seem to be going full speed until the ball was thrown. A shame, too, because that was an easy TD.

This is what I and everyone I was watching with said. It looked like he was jogging.
