Shanle was a pretty solid backer as his 722K qualifying offer suggests. He's a good nickel backer and ST guy. It would be nice to upgrade to the extent that he can remain in those roles alone.

Try and be mature enough not to bash him just because Nors happens to over-celebrate him. I am pretty sure Shanle didn't put him up to it. :laugh2:

Shanle is below average against the run, awful in coverage and will be out of a job when the final 53 is set in September.

Book it.
You and Nors could always bet your zone memberships on it.

Shanle was ok but imo Ryan Fowler played better when given the chance.
As a 3-4 ILB on running downs absolutely.

Shanle was an improvement over Singleton at WLB in the 4-3 2 seasons ago.

Not sure if he could play a 3-4 OLB on the weakside at his size but he is not a 3-4 starting ILB thats for sure.

Perhaps moving him outside behind Singleton/Fujita/or whoever we add there is the answer as it seems moving Burnett inside next to Bradie James may be.

He's just another backer and not worthy of his own threads or his own personal abuse station.

Singleton is/was a SLB.

Hopefully we're just talking about rearranging deck chairs. Shanle is decent enough, but probably not someone we should have starting somewhere.

Shanle will still be around for next year and with good reason. He does many things well and he is about as good as you will get for a backup in this watered down league. I too do not want him to be the starter; I feel that there are better players (or players better suited to be ILBs) out there that we can get to start.

ILB is really a weakness for us right now. Bradie James still gets out of position way too much and Burnett hasn't shown me anything to make me giddy with anticipation at seeing him in there next to James. I think Fujita will be fine with the experience he got in the system this year and an off-season to learn more and get preped. But in all honesty Ware is the only LB we have that doesn't have question marks all around his name.

Cowboys | Team will give Shanle tender offer:cool:
Mon, 13 Feb 2006 17:14:23 -0800

Nick Eatman, of DallasCowboys.com, reports the Dallas Cowboys are expected to give restricted free agent LB Scott Shanle a one-year, $722,000 tender offer.

Could you immagine your employer coming to you and saying..."You know, based on you're review you're performing at a below average level. But because we think you might improve - amybe be average one day - we deicied to keep you for $722,000. Take it or leave it!"

What's the over/under on the time before Nors switches his allegiance to Ryan Fowler?

Don't wait too long, Nors. ;)

Didn't see anything about a signing bonus. So the tender is cool, if he makes the team, fine. If he doesn't, we lose nothing because he didn't get a bonus anyhow.

Win Win for us.

I think he is great as a nickel backer/ST/depth.

His play severely dropped off once he stepped into a full time role. He stopped making plays in the nickel as well.

Maybe he just needs another year or two. Maybe needs to get a bit bigger. Maybe this is all we can expect from him. There is a reason he lasted until the 7th and got sent packing by the Rams I am sure.

Don't want him starting. Like him as nickel/ST/depth.
Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick. Lets get past that issue. Glover was drafted where?

Shanle was SOLID for two months as Dat went down early. His issues all started with his high ankle sprain. He missed some gametime and tried to play through it.

Kids a baller, plays with blood and gauze stuck up his nose. Would play with bones sticking out. He's a Parcells LB. Quality LB for nickle and depth and can start if called on!

Shanle is back!

Nope, we agreed on terms and then they got changed to a watered down nothing of a bet, with a win or lose put each other on ignore clause, so I said no deal.

The original terms were agreed to by both of us before mod intervention.;)

Shanle was medicore for 2 months, and tailed off quickly. Hes a reasonable enough backup, but probably not someone we should want getting a good number of snaps. It could well be Parcells told him to get back on the field cause he doesn't care enough about the kid going forward to worry about small injuries with him.

Shanle is a spare part. Every team needs them, but they usually are what they are.

Some Shanle Facts:

Dat started first 4 games and we were 2-2. Shanle stepped in and we went on 5-1 tear. Stuffing run and played at a very high defensive level.

Went down with ankle and DNP Denver loss. Fowler started majority of games last month of season. The Shanle injury was further compounded with losing Burnett and Als to IR. That all said was part of defensive slowdown.

That all said Dallas was 5-1 with Shanle starting before ankle. 4-6 before and after that injury. Get healthy Shanle and lets draft a possee of LB's to push him and Fuji!

I stayed out of this thread to prove a point - Yes that Ty Law would get brought into it for no reason !!!!!!!!! Stay focused gang!
