Yeah, he is.

I think we got a fine player in Ware, but you couldn't have gone wrong with Merriman. Granted, you never know how a player would have fit in a different scheme (in this case, ours), but the guy plays with so much fire and passion on top of his god-given talent.

I agree with the poster who said we just flat out need to rush Ware more. I think Ware will be a star for years to come.

This guy Shawn Merriman though.. might be the closest thing to LT I've seen...

He is a very good player. He plays with tremendous intensity. You don't see him dropping in coverage as often as Ware though, he gets more of an opportunity to run wild at the QB. I think this could be a telling season as to who has more impact on their team, Ware or Merriman, not the final word mind you...but a better glimpse than last year alone.

Your post comes off as half jest/half serious, but I do think you're right.

That's why above I said you never know how he'd have looked in our scheme. A lot of people mentioned how he's constantly rushing the passer. Ware's not afforded that luxury, and I doubt Merriman would here, either.

I didn't want the thread to turn there because I love DeMarcus. I think Zimmy needs to turn him lose more. Just admiring another great player. Merriman could have 15-16 sacks this year EASY.

I agree. You don't see Merriman covering TEs and other stuff, but you see a relentless pass rusher.

Ware is very athletic, but he's too nice and he doesn't play with a ferocity like Merriman.

Merriman is just a mean, nasty football player.
