No offense, did you see Ware get Pancaked by Robert Gallery in two consecutive plays either? Yeah, thats what happened in first quarter with Merriman. I didn't see his sacks etc., but was laughing on how as soon as the Announcers said how much of great player Merriman was, he gets pancaked twice in consecutive plays.

Lot of success of Merriman is due to the way they use him. Unfortunately, seems like BP rather play vanilla Defense and just wants one on one domination. If thats the case, Merriman probably gets no sacks in the same game, based on what I saw from him
Short cuts, here I come, lol.

Come on Adam, look at more than just the stats, look at the teams faced.

Huh? You're implying that Ware sacking Delhomme three times in one game wasn't anything special. So why did 15 TEAMS manage to sack him fewer times than Ware did all by himself? Why did the team that led the NFL in sacks manage to sack Delhomme only twice, even though he attempted more passes than he did against Dallas?

That something in your eyes was the fact that Merriman was playing against the worst team in the league.

OMFG....Merriman has done some things against more than the Raiders.

I certainly think it's valid to compare Ware and Merriman. Last year I would say it was pretty much a toss-up when you look at the total stats. Adam I am sure can back this up. We should judge the comparison this year over a full season not just one game.

PLease, dont even mention that lame argument about what Ware did against the Raiders last year as the line is completely different. If you honestly believe the offensive lines are the same, you obviously have no clue what so ever about football.

Burned those Henson jerseys yet?

I guarantee you, if Merriman was drafted by the Cowboys, he'd be putting up huge numbers for you guys too.

If he had been drafted by us, he wouldn't be benefitting from other players' pass rush as much as he does with the Chargers. He'd have to create his own sacks, and he'd have to beat offensive tackles -- and he rarely does either one.

Merriman won ROY last year...He didn't play all his games against the Raiders he played against a lot of teams and played well enough to be ROY...Get it.

If we couldnt find a way to utilize this guys talents, then something is wrong with us. And he does beat tackles, RBs. You are way off base here, Adam. Dont be a homer. Right now, Merriman is the better pass rusher, bottomline.

He has almost never beaten a tackle for a sack. Only twice in his career has he flat-out beaten a tackle to the quarterback -- and on both of those, he got lucky after the quarterback got away from him. Last year against the Colts, Merriman beat Ryan Diem, but Manning got away from him. Then Luis Castillo sacked him, and Merriman jumped on top. Merriman was credited with half a sack. And last night, Merriman beat Robert Gallery but whiffed on Brooks. Brooks got away, saw Shaun Phillips coming and scrambled right into Merriman, who was on the ground. That's it for Merriman flat-out beating offensive tackles in his career.

Yes, two of Merriman's sacks last night came when he was left 1-on-1 with a running back. Ever seen Ware left 1-on-1 with a running back? If he ever had been and got sacks out of it, I wouldn't consider those any great accomplishment. They'd just pad his stats.

Merriman gets more sacks, but I don't buy for a second that he's a better pass-rusher. If half of Ware's sacks came when quarterbacks were trying to get away from other pass-rushers, I wouldn't consider him the same level of pass-rusher as he actually is right now. Unfortunately for him, he hasn't had the luxury of racking up cheap sacks.

You trying to say teams don't fear Singleton like they did Foley on the other side last year?

Who is the better of the two will probably have to be determined years down the road since they both look to be pretty good.

What we can all be thankful for is that the Commanders drafted Carlos Rogers instead of Merriman.

I wish Ware had the opportunity to be blocked by backs all the time, but you're right, Merriman is superior.

Bingo,
Its not really about what player is better but what defensive coordinator gets the player in the postion to make plays...
dallas dose a poor job at this thus far...
