Shorter passes is that the answer in 2023?

lol most times dak dumps off to a rb theres little room to go anywhere. he's been terrible throughout his career leading/hitting in stride especially to the running backs.

Zeke was never an elite pass catcher but its always a circus try at a catch every time its thrown to him.

With the slants flats system we'll be running, how do you feel about daks ability to hit/lead a receiver in stride?

Agree!!! Leaves him no room at all

Yes we will be in a different offense, the word around town is it'll be shorter quick passes. Away from the long developing routes I can smile but hold on!!! Are we really going to keep it short, and continue to not test the defense deep to keep them honest? I don't the one per game deep shot to TY HILTON like we did several games this past season.

Short passes in this offense to me says a lot of passes to our TE's, if we re-sign Shultz he may lead the league with 200 catches for 987 yards!! What would be the point of bringing in a big name to sit and watch a TE be the focal point of our QB?

Really hope we go with quicker guys that can get open. This HAS to be the focus this off season, if so I'm excited!!! Please give your thoughts
Yep, McCarthy's offense is exactly like Kellen Moore's offenses except all the routes are shorter...

Mike ran a variation of the WCO with more deep passes to compliment A-Rod's skill set. I imagine we'll see something similar here with a heavier emphasis on the run game...exactly what many of us have been looking for. I don't know how Schotty is going to fit into all of this, but I'm definitely excited to see how it plays out.

We already have a shorter-passes scheme as it is.
What you talking about, Willis?

The answer is, to keep leads in the 4th qtr by the QB throwing fewer INTs. With the coaching in that area of the game being reworked, I expect that to not be a problem moving forward. Next season is NFCC or bust. It will be a long offseason of the Cowboys making needed changes.

There is nuance to this thing. Dak and Moore were smarter than most DCs .. but not all of them.
Nothing to do with 'smart', the issue is his processing time when he's faced with a Defense that changes between pre-post-snap....his immediate 'flight' response takes hold as the anxiety and panic hits. I wonder if taking Dak out of the comfort-zone, in practice, and showing him repeatedly a Defense that changes will help.....but then again so many people deflect away from Dak I suppose this will just be ignored as we look look for the next scapegoat.

I can see that this shorter game suits Dak, and again but teams are already scheming for that all it will take is one penalty and that drive's over.

Sorry but "quicker guy's that can get open" are WR1's, there's none of those in the draft (especially at no.26) and plenty of other teams have more CAP to sign the OBJ's of the FA market.

Dak doesn't read the D quickly enough to count on shorter passes.
....and we need a scheme that doesn't have defenders "sitting" on routes. Offense was predictable.

We need an OC that can devise a panic friendly scheme.
Lol, spot on, that's why we intend playing the WCO, it takes away that indecision in processing developing progressions which possibly leads to Dak's apparent panic throws.

...are they sitting on routes, or is it that the D's are giving a different 'show' that makes Dak have to alter his perception of the play?

......and an OL that can improve run blocking. The middle of the line needs improvement. If you think the OL was very good all year......that is one of the problems.
The list of problems are escalating.....how do we improve ALL these offensive issues in the next 2 years? We need to realize that if we restructure Dak (and others) to an excessive extent that we free up money in the short term we will be back in CAP Hell (or for CAP Deniers.....a CAP that wont allow us to retain the CeeDee's and Micah's) by 2025.

Yep......there are more problems than just Dak's interceptions or Zeke's departure on the team. Those are just the glaring posts and media catches. Contracts definitely need to be revised, restructured or discounted to do such for retaining and acquiring aid/fix for all the problems.

Here are few just for the offense (My 2 cents):
1. The offense scheme apparently needed readjustment to scale to player skillsets. (not just Dak's)
- The separation of Dak & Kellen Moore will be telling. We are going to have a telling conclusion after next season. Too predicatable, too simplistic, too complex?

2. OL needs to shore the middle up, and hopefully acquire younger depth (Peters and Tyron now??) and a "road grader".....a "dawg" on the line.
- Typical OL injuries that required shuffling......Smith was a pleasant surprise, but OL lacked a "mean streak" on the line. Martin needs help. I think an OL needs to be pursued.

3. WRs......giving Gallup the benefit of recovery, but a more simplistic route tree. (See CeeDee/Dak interception against Niners.......defense was sitting on that route)
- Amari trade required Noah Brown to become more than he ever has during his tenure. Tolbert didn't develop. Fehoko, a preseason all-star only thus far. May lose Shultz.

4. OC and Dak reconnection.....Dak passing issues. Commanders' Kendall Fuller Pick-6 requires explanation. Same route back-to-back. See #1 and #3.
- Dak had a season that currently is an anamoly. New OC needs to go over strengths & weaknesses of Dak AND the offensive scheme.

5. You want Zeke gone....be careful. TPollard needs to recover.....do you want to assume Malik Davis is ready to assume a bigger role and be the new TPollard?
- Zeke on record to take a discount. (I know it doesn't matter to most). Zeke actually ran well before injury. (Forgot? Believe it or not). Can TPollard evovle to handle 20+ carries a game? Draft a RB in later rounds. Relax, Zeke tenure is numbered, but you need something before you have nothing. See # 2.

CeeDee will get paid. Micah will get paid. Problem will be on the board......too many Salary Capologist on the board that will rip both, once they get paid.

Just got time to replay to Pt 1...... I agree that after this year the ultimate responsibility will be all be confirmed. What i'd disagree with is that for an Offense to work it has to be built around the limitations of the QB which is my take on why we throw curls and Dak's struggles with progressions when facing a D that changes it's look pre-post snap. Indeed, look at the Jimmie Ward quote AFTER THE 1ST PLAY-OFF WIN.

The 'shorter game' may well suit Dak's skill set and limitations (progression wise, if he doesnt have to think it will lessen the anxiety/panic), but that's not sustainable, one penalty and drive ends.

In respect of your last sentence ....if we restructure Dak, we could be paying him $60m+ in 2025 (already paying him $21m in Void money). Micah, with ALL teams getting increased CAP could be something stupid like $45m+ (Watts getting over $30 and that was sgned before the massive CAP jump).

I hope that it works. Quicker passes is a good thing a long as we don’t abandon the run. It looks like both our new OC and O-Line coach are power run and I like that. Let’s lean on some opposing lines.

So what does the team do......get rid of Dak, get rid of Zeke.......what happens then? Who becomes the "cheap" QB? Not too simple as that. Fix one or two problems to make several more. What you think?

No argument there. You’re right.
