Shortest Turnaround for a Game in NFL History

It's about travel. If our game was at noon, we could leave NY and be back in Dallas by evening to res. Now, we won't leave NY until well after midnight. We essentially lose a night of good rest.

Ask any pro athlete, those things are crucial.

I guess they'll just have to put their big boy pants on...

For what it's worth, the following thursday we play at Chicago and get the extra rest before playing Philly. Not to mention Philly will be coming off a game against Seattle, so I am ok with the turn around.

My thoughts exactly.

Every year the Cowboys get criticized by other teams for having an advantage for the Turkey game. Specifically for playing at home, forcing the other team to travel on a short week, etc. This is the NFL's way to mitigate that criticism.

Not really. Weekly Thursday night games began last year and every team played on a Thursday night.

Good point.

Do you actually think 6-7 hours is going to really make a difference?

I don't know that the 6-7 hours matter as much as does the team getting back in Dallas somewhere around 5 am on Monday. That could throw the whole body clock off kilter on such a very short turn around.

I don't mind the turnaround, however couldn't we have gotten Oakland so I can enjoy my Turkey??

Division games back to back this close is nuts!

It absolutely does, especially when travel is involved.

It's the difference between sleeping on a plane and then getting home at like 3 am or getting home at 7, having a good meal, and sleeping in your bed.

Schedule is what it is, Cowboys have 3 games in 12 days then get a break.

The point from the op is a good one. It is the quickest turn around ever. Not being able to go home and sleep Sunday night is crucial. That's an entire day if rest lost not getting to play at 1. Even 4:30 would be a big benefit as opposed to 8:30.

Travel to the airport in Nyc adds to the long trip.
Every day of rest and a good nights sleep is crucial. A physical sport like football makes it even more crucial than any other sport.

Simply, this is not fair at all and contradicts all the player safety bull their trying to promote.

Dallas almost always gets a home game on Sunday followed by Thanksgiving.

Teams have complained, most notably the Giants. It's not a coincidence that the Giants got Dallas at home on Sunday night this time. I have no doubt.

Here's the silver lining. Dallas gets back-to-back Thursday games, which gives the Cowboys a mini-bye before going to Philadelphia.

Do you not want the boys playing on turkey day???

Everyone gets shafted somewhere down the line don't act surprised when its our turn

When it's our turn? We been shafted more than any other team, and not just from a scheduling issue.
But it is what it is. I'm not complaining, as it does nothing to do so.
