Should Danny White get into the ROH?

Danny White was (and still is) one of my all-time favorite Cowboys' players. He took alot of blame for those 3 consecutive NFC Championship losses, but I always tell those who blame him, he played good enough in the 'Frisco game to get us to a Super Bowl. After watching the replay of the 1980 NFC Divisional game where he leads us to a great comeback against the Falcons, I was wondering if he should someday be inducted into the Cowboys ROH?

I don't think he will be inducted into the ROH, but I still think he remains underrated.

Unfortunately for D White, he had to follow R Staubach's legacy.

No. Since 1997, no player who was not either a HOF or HOF finalist has been inducted into the ROH, with the exception of Emmitt. We've moved on to the 90s players. Danny White's time has come and gone, so to speak.

In addition, Jerry kind of uses the RoH as a criteria for consideration to the HOF. He will not dilute the membership of this club because that would take away from the arguement that anybody who is inducted into the RoH is worthy of consideration for the Hall.

I don't think that he will be inducted either. I wish he would be, but it's not likely.

Well, his posts are certainly prolific, and for the most, part well-reasoned, but I wouldn't necessarily declare that he deserves to go into the Ring Of Honor...

no, he wasn't nearly good enough. Above average qb, but his lack of pocket presence was a killer

Are you guys still angry at Danny ?

This is a guy who, right up until Troy Aikman, held most ( if not all ) Cowboys passing records. He led the team to three straight NFC Championship games, another what, 3 playoffs appearances ? after that, and he doesn't deserve to get into the Cowboys Ring of Honor ?

If you are the Philly Eagles, you have to consider a QB who failed during all of your biggest games to go into your ROH ( McNabb for instance ). But we are the Cowboys, we don't have to put just very good players there. We just put the very best.

I liked Danny White.

But he only appeared in one pro-bowl and only once did he make the top-5 for passer rating (and that was a 5th place ranking in 1981).

He was good, but not good enough.

There are far more deserving players.

Danny, could eat a team up..until he got hit a little..then game over...hurried passes..ints....could never feel confident with him...

Unfortunately for Danny, the very most important stat for a QB, especially the one playing for the Dallas Cowboys is how many rings are on your finger. Tony Romo may someday hold every Cowboys passing record just like Danny did, but guess what if he never wins the big one he'll probably be missing from the RoH as well.

You got it.

Do you remember "The Catch?"

Well, there was just under a minute left. White throws to Drew Pearson who was tackled by the back of his uniform at the 50.

We needed twenty to twenty-five yards and we would kick the fieldgoal and win the game.

We would have beaten Cinncinati and won the Super Bowl that year.

Danny White, ignoring the pressure, held the ball low enough to have it slapped out of his hand, and the season was over.

He doesn't deserve to be in the ROH. Passing stats don't mean squat.

He had a team that was on the brink of greatness and merely needed a quarterback to step up for one minute of the season and move the team.

I will never forget that game because ESPN will never let it go. And people will go around telling you how great Joe Montana was. His legend started that afternoon. One of the two games I ever remember crying real tears after.

Nor will I forget Danny "No Danny, No!" White.

Danny White - 0-3 in the NFC Championship game. Losers walk the field, Danno. See ya.

Danny White wasn't in the endzone covering Dwight Clark. Everson Walls was, yet Danny is getting blamed for that loss? It was a game we should have won & to put total blame on Danny for that loss is both unfair & unwarranted.
